  • I Can’t Bear To Do An Episode This Week…

Welcome to the Ninth episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

I am really sorry, I was hoping to do a full episode rehashing this episode just like I have for the previous eight episodes, but I just can’t. I can not spend time rehashing three young couples go through the normal conflicts that happen in a young marriage, whether they be “arranged” weddings or those that are based on love.

I hope that next week we will have more to share, and more to explore. Let’s wait and see.

  • Re-Arranged Episode Eight: Pru Urvu

Welcome to the Eight episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

After an initial recap of what happened to each couple in this weeks episode, we focus on the law of Pru Urvu “Be Fruitful and Multiply”. To discuss this issue, host Darone Ruskay brings in Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his “we’ve Pru Urvu’ed enough” wife), to discuss the background of the commandment, and the ways in which the capacity or circumstances of a couple should be factored into the decision to have or not have many children.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.

  • The Joy Of Text: Navigating Niddah

In this special episode of Re-Arranged, we are sharing an episode of The Joy of Text, a podcast of Jewish Public Media.

How much distance do we really have to keep during niddah, and how can we express our relationship in spite of these challenges?

  • Re-Arranged Episode Seven: Niddah and Budgets (A Double Episode)

Welcome to the seventh episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

This week was a double-episode, after the decision not to air an episode last week in the wake of the events in Orlando, Florida, so Darone had a lot to recap… or so you would think. Darone does recap what happened in each episode, but still is able to finish the entire podcast in less than eighteen minutes.

This week, rather than inviting his wife to discuss the issue of Niddah, a topic that Ben and Vicki are dealing with in this episode, Darone invites you to listen to a great episode of The Joy of Text a podcast of Jewish Public Media. The podcast, was there latest, entitled Navigating Niddah and is an hour-long deep-dig into the issues surrounding the strictures of Niddah.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.

  • Re-Arranged Episode Six: A Special Episode about the Brit Ahuvim

Welcome to the sixth episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

This week, in response to the attack in Orlando, Florida, FYI chose not to air the newest episode of Arranged. Instead of skipping the week, host Darone Ruskay brings in Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his “as he mentioned they had a non-traditional traditional Jewish wedding” wife), to discuss the decision that they had made when they got married to use a Brit Ahuvim rather than a Ketubah as their wedding contract. Rabbi Ruskay references the work of Rachel Adler, author of Engendering Judaism: An Inclusive Theology and Ethics and the continued work done by her son and daughter-in-law as they took the Brit Ahuvim to 2.0.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.

  • Re-Arranged Episode Five: Weddings, and Babies and New Jobs and House Hunting

Welcome to the fith episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

After an initial recap of what happened to each couple in this weeks episode, we focus on the different components of a Jewish Wedding. To discuss this issue, host Darone Ruskay brings in Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his “we had an untraditional Jewish Wedding” wife), to discuss the components of the Jewish Wedding.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.

  • Re-Arranged Episode Four: I Love You, I Can’t Wait To Get Married, Now Don’t Talk To Me For A Week

Welcome to the fourth episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged. We, like the show, follow three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

After an initial recap of what happened to each couple in this weeks episode, we focus on the idea of a couple not speaking or seeing one another in the week leading up to their marriage. To discuss this issue, host Darone Ruskay brings in Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his “I saw her during the week before we got married” wife), to discuss the history of and halacha (Jewish law) that surrounds this custom.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.

  • Re-Arranged Episode Three: Social Media Is Bad, But Being On TV Is OK?

Welcome to the third episode of Re-Arranged, a podcast about the FYI show Arranged that follows three couples as they prepare for what the show says is an “arranged” marriage.

In this episode we recap the three couples stories. David and Taylor are living in a trailer during their first weeks of marriage, and David’s mom is still being trouble. Maneka is having issues around trust with Mayur after last weeks bachelor party/phone call issue. Ben and Vicki are having issues related to how they speak to each other and Ben has some strong opinions about the use of Social Media.

In the second part of this episode, Darone is joined by Rabbi Stephanie Ruskay, Associate Dean of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbinical School (and his social-media using wife), to discuss the halachic (jewish legal) issues related to the use or non-use of Social Media.

Arranged can be seen on the FYI channel on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm.
