In this video, I share my thoughts on the difference between healthy masculinity and toxic masculinity, and why I believe the two are too often confused.
After watching a recent documentary, it got me thinking about what it means to be a man in today's society. I discuss traditional masculine values such as responsibility, protecting your family, practical skills, respect, and self-reliance, while also explaining why abusive behaviour, misogyny and violence have nothing to do with being a real man.
I also give my views on:
- The difference between masculinity and toxic masculinity
- Social media influencers and their impact on young men
- Andrew Tate and "alpha male" culture
- Respect for women and healthy relationships
- Whether modern society has changed expectations of men
- Why strength and kindness can go hand in hand
This is an opinion piece, and I'd genuinely like to hear your thoughts.
Do you think masculinity is unfairly criticised, or do you believe toxic masculinity is a real problem?
