A toddler has died after the vehicle he was traveling in was struck by gunfire on Interstate 880 in downtown Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Victims of the shooting were traveling in a white Lexus sedan on southbound Interstate 880 near Filbert Street when their vehicle was suddenly struck by gunfire.

The child in the Lexus sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to Oakland Children's Hospital. The CHP said Saturday evening that the child later died from the gunshot wound. CHP detectives are actively investigating Saturday afternoon's shooting. Evidence collected on the northbound lanes of the freeway may indicate the victims were not targeted and the child was struck by a stray bullet.

The boy was sleeping in his car seat when he was shot; additional family members, including two other children, were in the car at the time. The victim was 23-month-old Jasper Wu from Fremont.

The extended segment on power grids discusses everything from Nikola Tesla to the potential of wind power to the logistical nightmare of extending power lines across the country, but perhaps the most damning criticism of our power system is aimed at the California energy provider.

Oliver asserts that one of the biggest issues with our current power grid is the old age of existing infrastructure. He states that most power lines were built in the 1950s and 60s and have a 50-year life expectancy. Combined with climate change causing more extreme weather events, these aging lines pose a dire threat, Oliver says.

"I’ll give Rodgers some advice: It would be nice if he came to the Naval Academy and learns how to be honest," Bradshaw said while on set at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. "Learn not to lie because that’s what you did, Aaron."

Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 this week. After it was reported he would miss 10 days, per league rules for unvaccinated players, concern for how the Packers enforced safety protocols was raised. 

"We are a divided nation politically. We are a divided nation on COVID-19 — whether or not to take the vaccine — and, unfortunately, we got players that pretty much only think about themselves, and I’m extremely disappointed in the actions of Aaron Rodgers," Bradshaw continued.

Rodgers was asked in an interview earlier this year if he's been vaccinated against COVID-19, to which he responded, "Yeah, I've been immunized." But he confirmed this week he hasn't received a COVID-19 vaccine. Instead, Rodgers "received homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor," NFL.com reports.
