  • KGUP PRESENTS featuring Lee Brown and Moderns: Ep 2

    In this episode, KGUP PRESENTS features two amazing local emerging artists including Pop artist and Singer Songwriter, Lee Brown and EDM artist Moderns.


    In the first part, we introduce Lee Brown. Originally from across the pond in England, this singer songwriter came to the US to become a dancer choreographer. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Lee attended Liverpool Institute of Performance Arts to pursue the art of ballet, contemporary dance, jazz and even tap, but this wasn't all. Brown also studied live theater and acting. Not long after moving to Los Angles, Lee join famous dance troop/boy band Phase V.

    Lee eventually left the group and pursued a solo act now known only by his name Lee Brown. His new singles include "Can I Get Your Number" and "Not Gonna Buy Your Love". Follow Lee Brown at https://www.instagram.com/theleebrown

    In the second part of our episode is EDM Pop sensation, Moderns.

    Moderns consists of female fronted Vocalist and Songwriter, Rosie Okumura and Producer and Engineer, Christopher Fudurich. KGUP discovered Moderns at a popular local venue in Silverlake, CA called The Satellite. Some of the songs that really caught our attention were, "Tier", "Jarre", and "Terrestrial". Song after song, they just keep making amazing music. Since their inception, they haven't released a bad song.   • KGUP PRESENTS: The Controversy Ep 1

    KGUP presents: The Controversy on our inaugural podcast of KGUP PRESENTS as seen on inDtv channel 140 on Universe Network. The Controversy is an Alternative music band based out of Los Angeles, CA. The trio is a collaboration of Laura Vall (lead vocals, keyboards), Thomas Hjorth (guitars, vocals), and Amy White (synth). In 2019, instead of the release of a traditional EP, they released six stand alone singles including the hit single "I", followed with "The World on Fire," and their most recent single "Oh Dear My". 

    As they mention in our interview, The Controversy is heavily influenced by David Bowie, St Vincent, Radiohead, and Massive Attack. One of The Controversy's most alluring feature is their dark melodramatic sound. Some might compare them to the melodies of The Cure and Depeche. 

    KGUP PRESENTS is a talk show based on the Los Angeles local Indie Radio station KGUP FM Emerge Radio. Established in 2012, KGUP has been supporting local artists and showcasing what’s up-and-coming for the past several years. KGUP’s Alumni include artists including but not limited to Big Data, LP, Teagan and Sara, Bleachers, The Neighbourhood, Cher Lloyd, Ed Sheeran, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping with Sirens, Lana Del Rey, London Grammer, and many more!


    With the partnership of inDtv | inDspotlight television channel 140, KGUP decided to procure its first televised show and air it on UNTV.
