Raised on neo-soul, Chicago artist Khaliyah X has been making music since she was 11 years old. Recently highlighted as an artist to watch by These Days online magazine, Khaliyah performed for the publication’s live music showcase at Schubas Tavern on on July 15 — but first, she stopped by the Vocalo studios to catch up with mornings host Bekoe. They discussed staying true to herself in the music industry, her family connection to making music and finding support in the Chicago music community. The two also discussed the showcase, where she would perform alongside fellow Chicago artists Gayun Cannon, Kayo and D2x.
