The U.S. is the only wealthy nation with no national law supporting paid family leave. That lack of support leaves a gap. In creeps cultural divides, with sides drawn between “girl bosses” and “trad wives,” which distracts from the bigger socioeconomic picture. At least, that’s the premise of the new documentary “No Country for Mothers.” The movie screens at the Teton County Library on Sunday, September 13.
State of Jackson co-host Frederick Reimers talks with presenters Natalia Macker and Alli Lane about the challenges facing Jackson Hole families and support services available.
Teton County Commissioner Natalia Macker has helped bring local attention and money to childcare services and gaps. Alli Lane is the director of It Takes a Valley, which helps connect new Jackson Hole parents to resources – from therapists to clothing exchanges.
