It's that time of year where we once again pivot from foussing on the year by year goings on in the VFL, to trying to connect with the current 2024 season. Each week we will try to give connections between today's game and past. Looking at the history when things have happened before, looking at the trends and the story lines.

1987 is a big year of change for the VFL, with the introduction of the Eagles and the Bears. We also mix things up by beginning our yearly focus talking about round 22 and the battle to qualify for finals.
