  • Ep 25.- The Love Fleabag, Hate Fleabag Episode

On this week's episode of Kickin' & Streamin' Podcast, Graham & Jocelyn discuss Amazon Video's Original series Fleabag, starring Emmy-nominated British actress and screen writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Before getting into the main topic, the two co-hosts also tell listeners about what will be streaming on their favorite streaming services during the upcoming month of August. In the midst of that discussion, Graham reveals to Jocelyn how he once accidentally rented the movie "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar" thinking it was a martial arts movie. Graham & Jocelyn spar over who likes or dislikes old movies; Graham has no tolerance for old movies due to the fake, over-dramatization in the voice of the old movie actors. Jocelyn loves old movies, but can't stand old Western movies. The discussion continues about movies which will be available on Netflix & Hulu next month. Jocelyn tells Graham she intended to watch the movie The Lincoln Lawyer; which someone whose opinion she respects recommended she should watch, Jocelyn also tells Graham about a movie entitled Cutting Edge, while Graham in turn tells Jocelyn about when he watched the Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes, and Rosie Perez flick: White Men Can't Jump. Jocelyn reveals she's excited after seeing trailers for two movies coming out, specifically a movie entitled Jojo Rabbit in which New Zealander actor and director Taika Waititi plays the role of Hitler, we both had a laugh at the reason Mr Waititi provided for not doing any research to prepare for the role of Hitler.  Jocelyn is excited about the trailer  release for the movie Mr. Rogers starring Tom Hanks, but she doesn't think Tom Hanks has a great resemblance to Mr. Rogers. We got into the topic of the day as we began our discussion about Fleabag. Listen further to hear what we think and why we love Fleabag the series, but we don't like Fleabag the character

  • Ep.23 Go Watch Good Omens Now...You're Welcome!

On this week's episode of Kickin' & Streamin' Graham & Jocelyn are talking about Amazon Prime Original series Good Omens, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen along with an all-star cast of American and British actors. Before getting down to business, Graham begin by having a little rant about the upcoming live-CGI version of his second favorite movie of all time, Disney's Lion King. Graham & Jocelyn ponder as to whether there will be too many differences between the original movie released in 1994, and the 2019 version directed by John Favreau. Jocelyn confesses her fascination with Beauty & the Beast as a child and how Belle was her favorite for a reason which is unknown to most people, Graham included. The conversation turns to the main topic of the night as Graham & Jocelyn begin to analyze Good Omens. The two co-hosts run down the cast of great actors in the show and how every actor seemed to have been born to play their respective character. Jocelyn reveals how long the show was in the making and how Johnny Depp and Robin Williams were the actors originally slated to play the two main characters of Crowley (the demon), and Aziraphale (the good angel). Graham reveals he was curious about the actress who played the role of Anathema and while researching, he found out the actress is Adria Arjona, who is the daughter of Guatemalan singer songwriter Ricardo Arjona, and former Miss Puerto Rico Leslie Torres. Graham & Jocelyn also analyze the allegory presented in the series as a call to action for all different political schools of thought to come together for the good of the planet. The conversation continues and it gets exquisitely deep and philosophical as the two friends dig deeper into the message, and the entertainment values in the show.

  • Ep 18.- (Bonus) When They See Us Is A Must-Watch, But It Will Break You

On this bonus episode of Kickin’ & Streamin’ Podcast, Jocelyn & Graham discuss the gut-wrenching, absolutely heartbreaking Netflix mini-series “When They See Us,” created, and directed by the phenomenal director Ava Duvernay (Selma). This series tells the story of five teenagers: Korey Wise, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusuf Salaam, and Raymond Santana, four blacks and one Latino who were falsely accused of raping a 28 year-old white Central Park jogger in April of 1989.  Jocelyn and Graham make a full disclaimer by telling how neither of them were able to watch the series in its completion due to the inevitable sensation of anger, impotence, and frustration one experiences while watching the series.  Jocelyn exhorts young listeners to make sure to watch the series or at least read about the real-life case; which went on to be dubbed “The Central Park 5.” Graham tells Jocelyn how he only learned about The Central Park 5 case during the 2016 election cycle as result of Donald Trump’s candidacy and eventual ascent to the presidency of the United States. The Central Park 5 was a frequent reference during said election cycle because at its height, Donald Trump took a full-page ad in several New York City newspapers demanding the death penalty for the five teenagers. Graham also explains how very little was known about The Central Park 5 case in the Caribbean at the time it occurred because people are taught to idealize the United States as a place where such grave miscarriage of justice doesn’t occur, not in modern times at least; therefore it was more painfully disappointing for Graham to learn The Central Park 5 case was very recent history. The conversation continues and Graham talked about the guilty feelings he experienced after the killing of Trayvon Martin, and Tamir Rice,

  • Episode 17.- Is Wine Country A Bad Movie, or We Just Expected Bridesmaid 2.0?

On this episode of Kickin' & Streamin' Podcast, we're joined once more by Jocelyn's bestie Penny Donelson as we review the Netflix Original movie Wine Country, produced, written, starred and directed by SNL alumn Amy Poehler. The discussion goes into the the cast as we marvel at the absolute cohesion among the actresses in the movie. Jocelyn & Graham dedicate a few minutes to talk about the premise of the movie versus what everybody seems to expect nowadays from every all-female cast movie since Bridesmaids. Penny confesses to not have seen the movie, but was expecting it to be within the realm of raunchy Bridesmaids-like type of humor. We talked about Tina Fey's scene-stealing cameos and we were all left wanting to see more of her every time she made an appearance in the movie. We further discuss how each character brought a certain real life-like quality to the movie based on their own personal issues and how they confide to their closest friends. We agreed the movie is a celebration of friendship and the ability to accept and love our lifelong friend with all of their virtues and imperfections.
