Today’s guest is Mohana Rajakumar, creator of Me Against The World, a short film that currently has a campaign running on Kickstarter.

This film is about how who we are and how others perceive us are not always the same thing. In it, we are introduced to Mala whose unlikely friendship with Doug revisits When Harry Met Sally, but for a new generation, with an interracial twist. The roots of this project originated as the short story "Down" in Mohana's Weeds and other Stories collection

The short they are trying to produce is an extract from the feature screenplay that was a semi-finalist in the Humanitas Awards and the Austin Film Festival.

Season two is here! Welcome back to Kickstart My… A Crowdfunding Podcast.

Today’s guest is Corey Beepington, creator of Please Stay Tuned, an animated short film that currently has a campaign running on Kickstarter. Please Stay Tuned is an Indie Animated Web Series Pilot created by Closed Circuit Studio, a small, collective group of up-and-coming online artists. This animated short tells the story of a TV-headed man who comes to a surreal city known as [REDACTED] with the goal of being watched.

Corey and I talk about how they came up with idea for this animated web series pilot, how long they’ve worked on it, and why things like Courage The Cowardly Dog, Bojack Horseman, and Infinity Train are influences on their animation style and why their isn’t enough horror in animation.

Charles, Brandy and I talk about the start of this story. How Charles' relationship with his own children influenced it, how Brandy and Jerry helped it grow, and the work the three of them do in the growing Oklahoma City creator owned comic book scene, that sounds as though the next big thing probably won't come out of the big two in New York or LA. With the title so close to its goal, even if you don't listen, give the Kickstarter read more on the title, and see if it might just be perfect for someone in your life.

FORGOTTEN HYMNS infuses the noir genre with modern interpretations of the Lovecraftian mythos to bring attention to the very real horrors of sexual abuse. Combining elements of noir crime with Lovecraft mystery, monsters, and madness Forgotten Hymns is a character driven horror comic that scares it’s readers into acknowledging that real world monsters do exist.

Andrew I talk about his background in comics and love of writing, how this story was inspired by the birth of his child, the elements his fantastic artist Isaac Perez add to the story which aren't expressed in his words, and the benefits and problems of crowdfunding comics online.

It's our first episode!

I'm your host Andrew McDonald, of RapturePress.com, and this is our new podcast Kickstart My... where we talk to creators of short films, comic books, video games, and more. People who are working to achieve the goal of fully funded crowd sourced campaign.

Today we talk to Delphine Batier, creator of the original independent supernatural short film, "Welcome to Oneg ." Welcome To Oneg is set in an alternate world where supernatural creatures, called “ODS”, have come out of the shadows to be a part of society. “For all your craves from the graves!” is Oneg's slogan: a chain of restaurants that caters to this peculiar clientele's tastes.

We talk the creation of the idea, development time, challenges and goals for the campaign,  and ultimate end goal for the project.
