Voices from the epicenter...

While taking a little break yesterday, I came up with the idea to reach out to two of my teachers for this episode to find out how they experience the current situation...

Well, Day 8 of the "School Shut Down" was also Day 1 of "Distance Learning" ...I need a break!

Today, I am interviewing two friends in the neighborhood who are usually spending a lot of time at their grandparents' house. I want to find out if and how their situation has changed in the last week...

I am excited that two of my best friends in Hamburg want to do an interview today... sadly, it looks like we can't go to Germany this summer and I hope we come up with some cool projects to do together in the meantime...probably with snail mail, lol!

I heard on the News that they closed all houses of worship in NY this week and I wondered how people are dealing with this. I will to talk to a friend who goes to church and find out what she is doing instead.

Things are developing so fast, it is Friday and the first week without school is coming to an end. I want to talk to the student council president at my school to hear how he is holding up. I also need to find out if state tests are being cancelled and check how he feels about this idea...

Today, I am reaching out to two friends from Brooklyn and Manhattan. 
My friend in Manhattan has family in the region of Italy that was hit the hardest by COVID-19...

Today, I want to hear again from kids who do not live in New York...or in America, and I am contacting a friend's friend from Tandil, a small town in Buenos Aires, and another friend from a small town near Munich.
Suddenly, I started to miss one of my best friends, who happens to LOVE podcasts! Her family left the city to be in Maryland during this time...I must talk to her!

I did not think it would take so much work to do this podcast, but it is fun...and I love to hear what my friends have to say! So, for this Episode, I am asking two classmates from Brooklyn for interviews about their new daily routines...

Fifth grader interviews friends and peers around the world on the effects of COVID-19 global school system shut downs. 

I could not believe it when I heard that they shut down NYC schools. I was happy at first, but when I realized that I will not see my friends until April 20th, I decided to make this podcast to stay connected. I figured this could be also a good way to make new friends, and to hear from kids around the world about their experience.

In this first Episode I am talking to a friend from Hamburg, Germany and one of my classmates in Brooklyn about their first impressions.
