In this episode we sit down with filmmaker Ed Sayers to discuss his new documentary film, Super Nature. A love letter to nature created on Super 8 film across continents by 40 filmmakers, amateurs and environmental storytellers

Beyond the film we discuss motivations for environmental activism, and how small acts can waver big results. Through understanding they ways in which industrial advancements have impacted our relationship with nature, how can we reverse the damage and return to a simpler way of being? 

The episode concludes by questioning the methods and purpose of image capture, considering that being present may be nature’s greatest lesson, if only we stopped for a moment and listened to the birds.

In this episode we are joined by Bristol-based DJ Spicy Prawn, in the lead-up to her first Boomtown set. As a female DJ working within a male-dominated industry, she shares her experience of working within grassroots collectives and the challenges she has faced through the different stages of her career.

The conversation extends to consider issues regarding pay, dress code and weight, triggered by the recent public discourse surrounding Ariana Grande. From this we examine the sexualisation of women in the public sphere and question the continued normalisation of projecting weight expectations onto another.

The conversation closes by discussing the disparity within performance expectations between mainstream male and female artists. We end by arguing for a separation between the art and the artist, criticising how the necessary prosecution of a sexual predator remains a colloquial dinner party question.
