For Kimberley Cowans, the bi-racial identity crisis came in waves. A trip to Brazil aged 17 changed the way she saw her curly hair forever, and after wave number two hit, she left architecture to start the cult indie haircare brand SKIMDO. 

When you’re Russian and Jamaican, born in London and raised in Thailand, things are anything but smooth. (Well, everything but the hair.)
