  • Podcast 5 - Hear about the charitable donations made for Meghan Markle & Prince Harry and learn more about these non-profits

We are now leading up to Meghan’s birthday on August 4th followed by Harry’s birthday on September 15th. In honor of these two birthdays a group of fans who band together under the name of the “Sussex Squad” have launched a fundraiser named  #InspiredbyMeghan.

The birthday campaign #InspiredbyMeghan will see the funds donated to the non-profit CAMFED, an organization that appeals to Harry’s love of Africa and Meghan’s focus on promoting women and girls.

So, what is CAMFED? Listen in to find out more.

The second piece of news about charitable donations this past week was hearing that 8,000 UK pounds, was donated on Meghan’s behalf to UK charity Migrateful.

Launched just 3 years ago in 2017 a group of refugees came together, realizing that they were all very well qualified, yet were unemployed because of language barriers or because their qualifications were not recognized in the UK. Many of the refugees could cook. The charity was launched with the aim of getting the women and now men into employment by supporting them in sharing their cooking skills by hosting cooking classes.

This charity is a perfect fit for Meghan. As we know she also likes to cook and she loves helping people to thrive.

  • Podcast 4 - The Unkind UK press about Meghan Markle & Prince Harry due to the pending publication of the "Finding Freedom" biography.

In this podcast I discuss the nasty and unkind UK tabloid reports about Meghan and Harry as a result of the pending publication of the biography Finding Freedom written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. The book comes into general release on August 11th, 2020. The press are using this as an excuse to bash Harry and Meghan over all manner of things.

I am not going to talk about the contents of the book itself as I have my own copy on back order and I want to wait until I read it before making any comments about the contents.

The UK media widely talk about this being Harry and Meghan’s book – describing it correctly as a biography but basically insinuating it is an autobiography written by or with the approval of the couple. The co-authors deny having had direct access to Meghan and Harry to obtain material for the book. The Sussex's did not read or approve a draft copy.

A statement released for Harry and Meghan said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom. This book is based on the authors' own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting."

I review some of the comments that have been made about Harry and Meghan. I hope the couple are managing to ignore them as best as possible. I hope they are continuing with their good work.

  • Podcast 3- Spotlight on Prince Harry's Travalyst & ringing the Birthday Bells for Meghan Markle

This podcast answers the question What is Travalyst?

I take you through my initial skepticism about this sustainable tourism initiative launched by Prince Harry in September 2019. As usual I did my own research to educate myself and actually found out the project has practical goals. Not about travelling less but about travelling more thoughtfully and allowing countries and communities to get tourism pounds and dollars in a sustainable way.

I talk about the impact of Covid-19 on the initiative and give some thoughts about how the initiative's impacts may be more mid to long term.

Next, ahead of Meghan Markle's birthday on August 4th I mention the tabloid speculation (which is unusual for me) about will or won't Westminster Abbey toll their bells this year to celebrate Meghan's birthday. I have my own musical tribute for her just in case.

  • Podcast 2 - Meghan Markle promotes Girl Power at 2020 Girl Up Summit

This episode takes us through the highlights of Meghan Markle's keynote speech to the attendees of the 2020 Girl Up Summit.

I review some of the ways that Meghan has 'walked the talk' in her commitment to advancing gender equity, empowering women and girls, and working within communities at grassroots level to encourage women to recognize their inherent value.

I like to call Meghan’s approach practical feminism. Meghan does not just talk about empowering women, she uses her huge following, her connections, and her can-do attitude, to make women’s lives better in practical and useful ways. And she does all of this without alienating men and boys, but in fact welcoming them to get on board.

Meghan’s speech this past week at the Girl Up Summit was one of the few she has made since she and Harry stepped back from being senior working Royals.

As always Meghan spoke clearly and eloquently, drawing on her life experiences whilst at the same time keeping the focus on the attendees. She spoke fearlessly despite being well aware that every word she said would be scrutinized by the media. And it was!

In her speech, Meghan encouraged girls and women to strive to work towards a world that is more inclusive, just, compassionate, and empathetic. Something everyone can strive towards regardless of our sex.
