Happy October radicals! Time to get in the spooky spirit 🦇 and nothing says spooky like suppressing powerful women and blaming the supernatural. 

On today's episode we dive deep into one of the most infamously wacky cases of the early American colonies: The Salem Witch Trials. First, I lay out what made Salem so brutal, how the Witch hunt began, the victims of the trials, and what went so horribly wrong in this small town. Of course we also discuss the impacts these trials had on independent women and healers and how we continue to see those similar 'witch hunts' play out today.

On today's episode of Kinda Radical, we are looking back at two examples of women's involvement in peace movements during national conflict. 

First, we do a historical overview of The Troubles in Northern Ireland from the 1960's till the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. We talk about women's involvement in active combat, as nurses or safe spaces, as lobbyists and politicians, and finally as peace makers. 

Then we dive into a summary of both Liberian Civil Wars, what caused the conflict, and how women eventually were the driving force behind lasting peace through public rallies, marches, and sex strikes?

Whether women are fighting, healing, or negotiating, women have played important roles in conflict history around the world, but their stories are often forgotten. I am so excited to be bringing you two successful examples today of women's role in peace.
