Teju Ravilochan is a Forbes 30 Under 30 social entrepreneur and TEDx speaker. He co-founded Uncharted and later started GatherFor out of a desire to intentionally create a mutual support system for people experiencing poverty.

Growing up, Teju was struck by the extreme gap between wealth and poverty, which led him to question the way the world works. He shares what he has learned from Indigenous and immigrant communities about the power of connection and why the Western focus on independence might be holding us back.

He also talks about GatherFor and how small groups of neighbors are coming together to support each other in everyday life. From sharing meals to helping with childcare and covering bills, they are proving that none of us are meant to do life alone. Let’s dive in!

Today, I’m talking with Francheska Krysiak, also known as Franny, a marine conservationist, scientific rebreather diver, and PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, who has spent the last 10 years working to protect our oceans. Franny supports conservation and restoration work for various organizations, such as the California Academy of Sciences.  She is also an underwater photographer and a brand ambassador for various scuba gear brands.

In this conversation, Franny shares stories from her underwater research, such as the surreal experience of being surrounded by hundreds of sharks and how night diving unveils a completely different marine world. Today, I’m sitting down with Andrew, whose two-week biking trip turned into a journey spanning 27,461 miles across 37 countries. Since his travels, he’s raised over $20,000 for the Trevor Project, helping prevent LGBTQ+ youth suicide. 

Along the way, he faced a slew of wild challenges, including getting hit by a truck in Peru, being robbed at knifepoint, and even being hospitalized with food poisoning. He got stuck in a small village in Pakistan for three days due to a landslide and often had to sleep in his tent on the street. To top it all off, he found himself stranded at the Kazakhstan border after forgetting his visa.

During her gap year, Siena spent six weeks each in Paris, Costa Rica, and Stockholm, and also traveled through the Galápagos Islands and Ecuador. She later completed a two-month internship in Ireland before joining Selina’s Film Residency Program in Morocco. Recently, she exchanged her skills for a two-month stay at a hostel in the Lofoten Islands.
