    Dr. Albert Hicks is a heart transplant cardiologist at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Texas. He currently serves as the Program and Medical Director of the Cardiac Transplant Program, Director of Clinical Heart Failure, and Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship. He is a proud Howard University graduate, and completed his Internal Medicine training in Philadelphia. He finished his Cardiology and Heart Transplant training in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins.

     

    Dr. Hicks is also a South Philly native, a father of 3 boys including one in college, and a dedicated son.

  • EP 26 DENNIS DUMPSON

    Dennis Maurice Dumpson is the founder of #InvestBLK, a consultancy that invests 75% of profits in Black leaders, movements, and communities. He uses his expertise in fund development, external affairs, and anti-racist strategy development to support nonprofit organizations in alleviating anti-Blackness in their culture practices. After more than 15 years as a leading fundraiser and in-house strategist for national and local nonprofits and in government he has secured more than $38.5MM in new funding throughout his career. He is also a thought leader on racial equity and has been consulted and featured in the Washington Post, CBS Money, The Socialist Worker, and Medium. Dennis is a visiting lecturer for local colleges focusing on business, personal finance, and areas of contemporary Black thought. He is an alumnus of the first degree granting HBCU in the world, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and earned an MBA in Global Finance from Saint Joseph’s University with international residency in South America. Dennis is in love with Black people, Black culture, and Black minds as seen through his work as a published author in his book, What My Colored Eyes See, released in 2009 and soon-to-be released book, Black Washed. He currently resides in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in his spare time you can find him being an amateur chef (#BistroRAHA on Instagram).   • EP 19 DR ROLLO DILWORTH

    Dr. Rollo Dilworth is Vice Dean and Professor of Choral Music Education at Temple University’s Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts in Philadelphia, PA.  In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music education, Dilworth conducts the “Singing Owls” Campus/Community Chorus. His choral publications can be found in the catalogs of Hal Leonard, Colla Voce, and Santa Barbara.  His choral pedagogy books entitled Choir Builders have been widely circulated among elementary, secondary, community, and church choral directors..  Dilworth frequently serves as a guest conductor and/or clinician for festival and all-state choirs throughout the United States and abroad.

    In 2023 Dr. Dilworth was appointed as the 5th Artistic & Music Director of Singing City Choir, Philadelphia's premier avocational chorus, committed to bringing people together through music.

  • EP 20 PASTOR ED KING

     Ed King  is married with one child (daughter), since February 2018 he’s served as Pastor of Bethel UHCA. Pastor Ed has been a recording engineer since the age of 16. He recently began to focus on song writing and started a publishing/production company 4th Son Music. Check out his debut release of an EP complication “The 4th Son Project Vol 1”

  • EP 21 DR DONALD DUMPSON

    Donald Dumpson, Ph.D., President/CEO of Diverse Arts Solutions and Minister of Arts at Arch Street Presbyterian Church, founded the Westminster Choir College Jubilee Singers (WCCJS), the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) Community Chorus and the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale, Inc. He taught at Cheyney University, elementary general music and the High School for Creative and Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

    Collaborations include Trinity Wall Street’s Downtown Voices, Curtis Institute of Music and Drexel University. Recent productions include, A Soulful Christmas, Chorus America 2019 convention closing concert, WXPN’s The Gospel Roots of Rock and Soul, and The Movement Revisited by bassist Christian McBride’s

    He made his Carnegie Hall choral debut in 2001, when the WCCJS performed Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess under the baton of the legendary Skitch Henderson. Dr. Dumpson has prepared choruses for several Philadelphia Orchestra performances including the Marian Anderson Awards, Julius Rudel conducting Florence Quivar; Porgy and Bess conducted by Bobby McFerrin and several Hannibal Lokumbe premiers Crucifixion & Resurrection: Nine Souls a Travelling; One Land, One River, One People Yannick Nézet-Séguin, conductor; and Can You Hear God Crying with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, later released on Naxos ArkivMusic.

    Dr. Dumpson has conducted the NJSO and prepared the Community Chorus for performances of Mahler’s Symphony #2, Holst’s The Planets, and Al Jarreau and Peabo Bryson. He also prepared the NJSO chorus for Hannibal Lokumbe’s God, Mississippi, and a Man Called Evers and African Portraits. He has collaborated with Opera Philadelphia, Kathleen Battle’s The Underground Railroad and Breaking the Rules with Denyce Graves, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, and Take 6, and Porgy and Bess with Jason Tramn and the New Jersey State Opera.

    His board affiliations are the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, PHLDiversity, and R&R Chair: Lifelong Choirs for the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division.

  • EP 132 DARRYL BUNDRIGE

    Darryl Bundrige is the Executive Director and Senior Vice President of City Year Philadelphia. He began his career with City Year Philadelphia in 2009 as Managing Director of Impact and assumed his current role in 2015. As Executive Director, Darryl maintains strategic relationships with the School District of Philadelphia, City Year Philadelphia’s site board, corporate and philanthropic partners, and the wider Philadelphia community.

    Darryl graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in business. A native of Pittsburgh, Darryl moved to Philadelphia to enthusiastically serve with the National School and Community Corps during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 school years, where he tutored and mentored elementary school students. Prior to joining the City Year staff, Darryl worked as Dean of Students for Belmont Charter School and Director of After-School Programs at the Center for After-School and Community Education at Foundations Inc.

    Since becoming Executive Director of City Year Philadelphia, Darryl has increased public and private funding, expanded the staff from 35 to 50 employees, and reached an operating budget of $10 million, up from $8 million. Each day, he inspires, challenges, and supports staff along with diverse teams of AmeriCorps members (ages 18-25) who serve as mentors and tutors in schools across Philadelphia. He has also led the execution of City Year’s Whole School Whole Child school-based service model, and launched the first ever School District Leadership Summit—an opportunity for local education leaders to meet and discuss impact.

    For Darryl, service is a lifestyle. He remains a steady advocate for mentorship and youth education both at work and outside of the office. Among his many civic engagement activities, Darryl has served on Penn State’s Alumni Council, is the former co-chair of the National Service Task Force in Philadelphia, a current member of the Cedar Park Neighbor Association Scholarship Committee, and member of the Fast Start mentoring program. Likewise, he is active in the Philadelphia African-American Leadership Development Forum sponsored by the Urban League, of which he was an inaugural member.

    Throughout all his roles, Darryl takes pride in connecting people to build networks and get things done. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including being named as a 2015 Brothers Network honoree, 2010 Outstanding Alumni Council Member awardee, the K. David Weidner Diversity Award recipient, a 2018 “Made Man” honoree, and a 2019 Philadelphia Business Journal Diversity Business Leader award recipient.
