School is starting!
And, with the resumption of school just around the corner, with a summer of diverse perspectives on the age of the earth, scriptural translations, and cosmic origins behind us, in the final analysis, what is that Northwest Christian School teaches its students?
The largest private school in the state of Arizona...a school with the audacity to include "Christian" in its name! Does it teach Old Earth? New Earth? What is said about evolutionary theory? How is Genesis presented...allegory? Literal history?
The moment of truth has come!
Today, we spend time with Junior Bible teacher Nicole Hunter as she breaks down all of these questions and more! Although we still have a few weeks and episodes on origins and creationism ahead of us, today we enjoy insightful commentary and solid Biblical perspective on how this is all presented to students!

Sherman Mohler discovered a dinosaur.
Well, technically, he was part of the team that unearthed, cataloged, researched, and ultimately named Ornatops incantatus, a type of duck-billed dinosaur that roamed northern New Mexico approximately 80 million years ago.
By the way, Sherman discovered this dinosaur not too far from where he goes to church while he's on fossil expeditions.
Wait. Church? Fossils? 80 million years? Is it possible to include all of these things in the same episode of Kingdom Culture Conversations?
That is the reason that Sherman Mohler, a recognized and accomplished paleontologist, who serves as the president of the Southwest Paleontological Society, accepted the invitation to be our guest for what will be two days of very intriguing conversation. Plainly said, Sherman wants our students and listeners to know that you can follow Christ, believe your Bible, and hold to an understanding that the world is billions of years old. Further, he's inviting us to do the work -- read the research, study God's Word, examine the evidence -- and, decide for yourself, recognizing that your security in Christ and position in your Christian faith are not at risk.

Ready to take Sherman Mohler up on his challenge? BioLogos.org is a Christian nonprofit organization founded by geneticist Francis Collins, best known for leading the Human Genome Project. The organization seeks to promote what it describes as the harmony between Christian faith and modern science, particularly in areas such as evolution, genetics, cosmology, and the age of the earth. BioLogos generally advocates for “evolutionary creation,” the view that God used evolutionary processes in creation.

Perhaps you should sit down.
In a Kingdom Culture Conversation that you will not soon forget, in today's episode we meet pastor and author Dean Davis. Dean has innumerable qualifications for ministry, is well educated, has served the Lord faithfully for decades, and is a profoundly avid student of scripture. And it is that study of scripture, followed by years of scientific research, that have led him to a remarkable conclusion.
Dean Davis believes that the Earth is the center of the universe.
The heliocentric model — the idea that the Earth and other planets orbit the Sun — gradually became the dominant scientific view between the 1500s and late 1600s. But, today, you will meet a credibly incredible individual who holds to the opposite: the geocentric model. And, in what will be a two-part episode, Dean will present what he holds to be both the scriptural and scientific justification for his position.
And, this is the part where you might want to sit down.
What you will hear him say today and tomorrow makes a lot of sense.

His exploration and explanation of what he believes is scriptural cosmology can be found here.
Background:
In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona. If that were not crazy enough, during that summer, Miller introduced us to his book, "The Cost", and he made two audacious claims.
First, Russ Miller claimed that the universe and all of creation was established by God in six 24-hour days, less than 10,000 years ago. He claimed he had scientific and scriptural evidence to back up his claims.
Second, Miller claimed that if our nation continued to deny God the creator and the concept of "Imago Dei" -- that we are created in the image and likeness of God, on purpose, and for a purpose -- our culture would go into a freefall, losing all concept of right and wrong, falling into chaos and disorder.
Now, ten years later, Russ Miller is back and his warnings and worries have exploded into reality. Our country and our culture are mired in confusion about truth, gender, marriage, race, identity, spirituality, and more.
We are paying what Miller called "The Cost" of losing track of who we are and whose we are.
This summer, we're going deep into creationism. We are going to spend time with audacious individuals who believe in Young Earth, Old Earth, Theistic Evolution, Geocentricity, and, yes, a Flat Earth. Our journey will be anchored in God's word as we enjoy some pretty amazing conversations.

The 2025/2026 school year was a year of administrative transition for Northwest Christian School with assistant superintendent Samantha Maszton winning the day in a dual role as secondary principal, overseeing middle and high school as the school eased through several transitions. All the while, administration kept an eye out for the individual that would take the reins as a new principal.
The 2026/2027 school year brings that hunt to a close as J.T. Barnes moves into the role of Middle School Principal.
As you will hear in today's Kingdom Culture Conversation, it has truly been an epic journey for Barnes! Having started as a student teacher and teaching both Bible and history, Barnes has served administratively in both primary and secondary settings.

Today:
Harvard biologist Ernst Mayr said the quiet part out loud.
In 1999, Mayr gave a lecture titled "Darwin's Influence on Modern Thought" and in this lecture he indicated what had only been suspected previously: that Darwinists believe that there is no corner of creation, no school of thought, aspect of culture, or pursuit of science to which Darwinian evolutionary theory cannot be made applicable.
That's not even the shocking part.
Mayr went on to suggest that to accommodate this general applicability, we needed to recognize that the science of chemistry and physics is not the same science as that of evolutionary biology. What?
In today's Kingdom Culture Conversation, author and Biblical creationist Russ Miller yanks back the curtain and reveals the endgame of Darwinists.
Background:
In the summer of 2016, the annual Crusaders Charge into Summer Reading campaign introduced us to Russ Miller, a storied and established Biblical creationist who lives, believe it or not, off-the-grid in a crater in northern Arizona.
Miller's latest book is "Consider the Cost" -- an updated and expanded version of "The Cost" that is available at no cost in the three offices of Northwest Christian School -- and his message remains the same: we must understand that we were created by God on purpose -- we are not biochemical happenstance -- and we were created for a purpose. We are loved and valued. The truth is knowable. We have a reason. We have a mission.
But, at the end of the day, diverse positions aside, every moment and every word of the KingdomCultureConversations.com episodes that we will hear this summer (between May 11th and September 28th) will be rooted in one truth: You were created on purpose and for a purpose.

Northwest Christian School's annual student-centered, Gospel-reading campaign is called REDLETTERCHALLENGE.ORG.
And, we tend to get so excited about all of it -- students, the…
That's certainly the case with Fall 2026. Launched in elementary chapel on Wednesday, August 26th, REDLETTERCHALLENGE.ORG invites students into the daily discipline of time in God's word. We read one chapter per day, working our way through the four gospels, over the course of three months. Along the way, as we work to inspire a love of daily time with Jesus, we provide extrinsic reminders of the intrinsic worth that such a commitment can make in their lives!
To assist our families with this process, as we move through the Red Letter Challenge, each day for the next several weeks, we're going to publish a podcast episode within the Kingdom Culture Conversations venue, that features Geoff Brown reading that day's gospel chapter.
For more info, and to join the fun, please visit REDLETTERCHALLENGE.ORG.
