This week, Christopher Carter of Discover The Heavens (https://www.discovertheheavens.org/) joins host Gil Hodges of Kingdom Equipping Center & Kingdom Talks Media (https://kingdomtalksmedia.com/) for an engaging discussion about restoring the role of mythology in Kingdom education!
TALKING POINTS:
– Why study mythology?
– What does the role of myth have in a holistic education?
– What benefits have you experienced in your life from studying the past and its relationship to what God is doing right now?
– If you've ever wondered what use mythology could ever be (other than purely entertainment) in today's "rational," "scientific," post-Enlightenment world, then you might like to think about an archaic word―Prudence, or Wisdom. Somebody once said "He who does not obey the law of prudence will end up obeying the law of gravity." That's obvious.
So how is it wise to dismiss out of hand, as having no possible implications for us today, beliefs which human beings since the dawn of civilization have held to be valuable? Shouldn't we at least investigate these beliefs to learn what they are?
– Our modern religious establishment strictly forbade any departure not merely from biblical Christianity, but also from their preferred monochrome template of how they had decided that Christianity should be practiced. I.e., the monochrome way they had decided that spiritual and material life and reality should be viewed. One way they did this was to discourage their followers from learning much about other religions and spiritual traditions.
But that ultimately unbiblical stance (unbiblical because the Bible tells us to be good Bereans and test everything) has resulted in unbiblical compromise by many people today who, frustrated in their genuine search for deeper spiritual truth, have played pick-and-choose with other religions and spiritual practices. Many of them, tragically, have left biblical Christianity―all because of unbiblical restrictions on their search for spiritual experiences and ultimate truth.
– Why shouldn't we, after all, learn what these ancient accounts, echoed in the annals of ancient nations, peoples, and tribes, tell us about the universal human experience? Why can't we learn about the spiritual desires and experiences of fellow human beings? We don't always have to agree with them, but surely we can listen to them and learn something from them.

**Deeper Dive**
Everything today is sliced up into bits and pieces.
That's a glaring allegory not only after our discovery of the quantum nature of our physical reality, but also of today's ubiquitously digital, filtered, and compartmentalized world. Don't you think?
