Because we live in a broken world, where sin is in our nature, we all fall short of God's Glory. This means that just as you and I are capable of hurting someone else’s feelings, it’s inevitable that someone will eventually hurt you or let you down. But in those moments, remember that it is not Jesus who hurt you, it’s sin and brokenness that causes us pain and it’s only through Him that we can actually find healing and wholeness.

Many times in scripture Jesus uses unlikely people to glorify God, and He can do the same with you and me. If you feel uncomfortable or unqualified, you’re not alone in feeling that. God used ordinary people all of the time to do extraordinary work for His Glory. Many people will doubt and criticize you, as they did to Jesus even in his hometown. But you are a beautiful creation in which God has a specific purpose. He will give you everything you need to fulfill the calling He places on your life.

The people in this chapter couldn’t deny Jesus' miracle working power after witnessing it themselves. Our God is a faithful God, and this means He STILL does miracles. If there is an area in your life that needs restoration or healing or breakthrough, just because He hasn't doesn't mean He can't or won't. Jesus is saying to you, "don't be afraid. Just have faith." So that's my prayer for you today. Trust God with everything you have, even if that's only a little bit. He can do a lot with a little.

If we don’t continually choose to seek God and choose to make him a priority, He won’t be. We’re selfish beings. And this is what the enemy feeds off of because he knows it’s natural for us to do what feels selfish. We have to continue to choose Jesus and plant deep roots of faith. This requires time planting our seed, spending time building a relationship with Jesus. Without a strong foundation in Christ, we’re in a much more vulnerable place when we're faced with challenges. Let's choose to "hear and accept God's word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted”

Jesus says, "I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” We don’t have to act like we have it altogether as if just because we're a Christian we never sin or we never get tempted to sin... That’s never going to be the case. God knows better and that is why we have salvation in Jesus. This is also an invitation to come to Jesus just as you are, not feeling the need to hide or cover anything up from Him. Allow Him to make you whole.

A lot of people we read about in the bible cared more about the miracles and life transformation than what the miracle meant (who the Miracle was). They cared more about the healing than the Healer. I wonder if this is sometimes true in our own lives... The good news is, we serve a compassionate and loving Father who is willing to heal us even if we may not understand or recognize the big picture and meets us right where we are with His grace and mercy, every time.

There are things that happen in life that we may not understand and let’s be honest, it hurts. Knowing Jesus is the only way we can experience fulness and peace without understanding. And through believing in Him and that He is the son of god, we can experience this for all of eternity.  When He calls on your name, like He does with Peter in this chapter and says "follow me," are you willing to do it? He asks us to let go and trust and follow Him because His plans are so much more beautiful than anything we can imagine for ourselves. He is our Protector and we can be confident in this when choosing to follow Him.

Today's reading will go over the death and resurrection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. After this, we see Thomas (one of Jesus' disciples) still doubting and claims that once he sees it, he'll believe it. I think we can tend to have the same attitude in our own lives. Jesus says "blessed are those who believe without seeing me." Let's pray to remain faithful in His goodness and allow our belief to be bigger than our doubt, even when we can't see.

Today's reading consists of the Betrayal of Jesus and His arrest, Peter's denial of being one Jesus' disciples and the trial before the Roman Governor, Pilate. This ends with the freeing of a murderous rebel named Barabbas to please the Jewish leaders rather than doing what Pilate believed was right, which was to declare Jesus as innocent.  We are reminded once again today that Jesus is Lord, and things are playing out exactly as He predicts.

There is a very real spiritual battle that we face every day, and a very real enemy who wants to destroy us and see us fail. The Lord tells us by the power in Jesus' name we are covered and protected and He tells us this so that we may have joy.  By remaining in His love, we are able to experience unity with Christ which allows those around us to feel and experience His love so they may believe in Him.
