God loves to speak to his people, and Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will dwell in us, not leaving us as orphans. The Holy Spirit delights to remind us of Jesus’ words, leading us into truth and guiding us in our everyday lives. He speaks in many different ways, and his voice always draws us towards Jesus and makes us more like him. As we listen to Scripture, pray and learn to recognise God’s promptings, we grow in relationship with the God who wants to speak with us every day.

What does it mean for God to speak through the Bible? What kinds of things does He say? How can we tell we're hearing Him? This sermon looks at how Jesus heard God through the Bible, and how we can too.

Note that the sermon began with these words being held up individually on sheets of paper: "Hi, I'm Sam. Today I'm going to talk to you about God's Word. Brace yourself... What? You were expecting an audible voice? Ha!"

After all of Ecclesiastes' searching and questioning, the book reaches a remarkable conclusion. Wealth, pleasure, work, wisdom and power cannot ultimately satisfy, but neither does Hevel get the final word. Instead, Ecclesiastes ends with a simple call: "Fear God and keep his commandments." For many people, God's judgement sounds unsettling. Yet Ecclesiastes presents it as good news. If God will judge the world, then our lives matter, injustice will not have the final say, and every act of faithfulness counts. God's future judgement gives meaning, purpose and hope to how we live today. But if God judges perfectly, who could stand before him? The good news of the gospel is that Jesus bore the judgement our sins deserve so that all who trust in him can face that day without fear. This week we'll discover why we need God's judgement, and why, in Christ, we can look forward to it with confidence.

Death is the one certainty we all share, yet it is the subject we most often avoid. In the closing chapter of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher paints a vivid picture of ageing and reminds us that our lives are fragile and fleeting. Rather than ignoring our mortality, he calls us to remember that we will die, to remember our Creator while we have breath, and to live wisely in light of eternity. Yet the Christian hope goes even further. Jesus Christ has defeated death through His resurrection, transforming our greatest enemy into the doorway to everlasting life. This week we discover how remembering death can help us truly live, why today is the time to seek and honour God, and how the resurrection gives lasting hope in the face of life's greatest

When God gives you a gift, you have a choice. Do you accept it? Do you reject it? Do you re-gift it? Do you reciprocate? These are all possible responses to receiving a gift. How do we respond to God’s gift? The book of Ecclesiastes shares wisdom on the proper response.

Money promises us freedom, but Qoheleth shows us that actually money doesn’t mean enjoyment, it is a burden, it is never enough and we lose it all anyway. He is poking us towards the true treasure that never burdens us, is always enough and will be ours forever.

We all long for power in one form or another. Whether it's influence, recognition, security or control, power promises to make life better. Yet Ecclesiastes exposes power's darker side. It can oppress the weak, corrupt those who possess it, and ultimately cannot protect us from the realities of sin, death or our own limitations. Even the greatest rulers are soon forgotten, and every human empire eventually fades. This week we'll explore what Ecclesiastes teaches about the limits of power, why our hearts are so drawn to it, and how Jesus - the true King - shows us a completely different way. Rather than using power to exalt himself, he humbled himself to serve, laying down his life to rescue us from every power that enslaves us. In him we discover a better kind of strength: one that is shaped by love, service and trust in God's sovereign rule.

Life unfolds in seasons. There are times of joy and sorrow, gain and loss, laughter and tears. Yet while we long to control our lives and understand God's timing, much of life remains beyond our grasp. In Ecclesiastes 3:1-15, the Preacher reminds us that every season has its place under God's sovereign hand. Though we cannot always see what God is doing, we can trust that he is working out His good purposes in every moment. This week we'll discover how to receive each season as God's gift, learn what it means to fear and trust him, and find lasting hope in Jesus - the Lord of time, who entered history to redeem us and who will one day make all things new.

Ecclesiastes tells us what we already know - that work is hard, frustrating, and offers only fleeting satisfaction. What does that mean for how we should approach work? Is there any hope that work might offer us something more?

The Preacher in Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 tries every pleasure under the sun but finds that nothing satisfies him. We find that pleasures are fleeting, easily one upped and never certain, ultimately always failing to bring lasting satisfaction.

We'll look at what we are therefore to do with the pleasures of the world and how viewing them as gifts from God shifts how we are to enjoy them and points to Jesus as the true source of satisfaction
