The nature of life outside of Christ is one of spiritual slavery, poverty and death. Through the gospel Jesus changes the status of every person who trusts in him.

Throughout the Bible, God’s people have been marked out from other people groups because they know God and are filled with His Spirit. Encountering the tangible spirit of God was a sign of his blessing and favour (Ez 39:29). Joel promises that in the last days all God’s people will be filled with His spirit.

Knowing who we are is vital if we're to pursue purity in every aspect of our lives. What God has done for us should transform the way we see ourselves and how we treat ourselves and others.

The danger for every Christian is that they fail to be transformed into Christ-likeness. In Ephesians 5 Paul warns Christians not to follow the idolatrous cravings of their surrounding culture, but to self-identify as God's Holy People.

William Wilberforce kept himself in a place of influence to fight for those in need. We must make sure that we do the same, especially at this key time for our nation.

Concern for those in need was a non-negotiable part of gospel preaching and church planting in the New Testament (Galatians 2:1-10). We must make sure that is still true today, especially at this key time for our nation.
