King's Council Podcast with Rylee Meek & Christian Edwards episodes
- The State of the Church with Pastor Kevin Jones
Boldness and courage are essential qualities for pastors and the church to possess to stand up for truth and righteousness, even when faced with opposition.
In this episode, Rylee Meek and Christian Edwards are joined by Kevin Jones, the lead pastor of Summit Church in Elkins, West Virginia. Listen as they delve into the crucial aspects of church leadership. The discussion revolves around the importance of accountability, boldness, and addressing controversial issues within the church community. Kevin's perspective on church leadership emphasizes accountability, boldness, and addressing controversial issues. He believes that church leaders have a responsibility to stand up for what is morally right and to lead their flock in accordance with biblical truth. Kevin criticizes pastors who shy away from addressing political issues or taking a stance on moral matters, stating that their silence is an endorsement of the wrongdoings happening in society. He encourages pastors and church leaders to wake up, take a stand, and fulfill their calling to be overcomers rather than overlookers, believing that although taking a stand may come at a cost, the reward is far greater and that obedience to God's calling is essential.
Community and accountability are crucial within the church.
Key takeaways:
- The Power of Community and Accountability in the Church
- Embracing Boldness and Courage in the Church
- Unraveling the Mysteries of Revelation and the End Times
- The Critical Role of Pastoral Accountability
- The Danger of Living in the Gray Area
Quotes:
"If the good Samaritan only had good intentions, nobody would even know who he was. He wouldn't even made the book of the Bible." - Rylee Meek
"Silence is tacit compliance. Your silence is your endorsement of the thing that you're choosing, making the decision to be silent about, it's your consent in what is happening, and that's unacceptable. It's just unacceptable right now." - Kevin Jones
"We have to always be ready and never get ready. Always be ready. So you don't have to get ready." - Christian Edwards
"What got you to where you are right now? Maybe you're a church of 100 people and you're at 100 people and you've been there for ten years. What got you there is not going to get you where God wants you to go." - Kevin Jones

Quotes:
"If you're an entrepreneur and you love Jesus, there's so much more that needs to be done. The work is just the beginning. Right? I mean, what are we doing here, dude?" - Rylee Meek
"And if evangelism was all that we were supposed to do, then why would we build business? Why would we do anything else, right? But that's not the case. Salvation is just the beginning. This is like, we get into the door, and now we get to operate within the kingdom, right? Because Jesus." - Rylee Meek
"It's remarkable how easy it is to depend on God when God is all that you have." - Christian Edwards
"If you're just bearing itty bitty fruit or just sparingly bearing fruit, are you not even the disciple? Because it says so, you'll be my disciples. If the Father is glorified and you're bearing a bunch fruit, and I think the two go in the same, if you're bearing much fruit, then God's going to be glorified because I don't think he's going to bless you, allow you to bear that fruit." - Christian Edwards
