King's Cross OKC

January 16, 2022 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - This sermon based on Genesis 26:1-33 looks at the life of faith as seen in Isaac's life. The life of faith: (1) doesn't always make sense, (2) discerns God's hand in the ordinary, (3) is spacious, (4) will eventually be made evident to all. Most importantly, the life of faith (5) begins with God.

January 9, 2022 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - King's Cross's annual reflection on God's grace during the year.

January 2, 2022 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - In Genesis 25:27-34 it appears that the selfishness of Jacob and Esau is driving the story, but actually God's sovereign grace is in the driver's seat, working out his purposes. God's amazing grace is driving the Christian's story, too.

December 26, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - The birth of Jacob is marked by struggle: struggle with barrenness, struggle within the womb, and struggle outside the womb during the delivery. These struggles point to the conflict and struggle that will mark Jacob's life. Christians, too, can expect struggle, but hope in a great inversion when our struggles and suffering will be resolved.

December 19, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - The death of Abraham provides an occasion to consider death. We will see four things about death: death is not natural; death is not the end; death conquers death; and for the Christian there's the hope of the resurrection.

December 12, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - Abraham's servant carefully fulfills his duty to find a wife for Isaac. In the process, he helps us to see how we can discern God's work in our lives.

December 5, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - Abraham gets his first bit of property in the Promised Land slowly and ordinarily. This, it turns out, is how God often works in our lives: slowly and ordinarily. This activity of God in our lives is nonetheless profound.

November 21, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - Abimelech observes that God is with Abraham in all that he does. In Christ, God is with us, too, in all we do! This sermon explores how God's presence in our lives strengthens us both objectively and subjectively and gives us a longing to be with God.

November 14, 2021 (Pastor Casey Shutt) - With rising tensions between Hagar and Sarah and their boys, Abraham sends Hagar and Ishmael away. This passage shows that when the going gets tough, the faithful get going and the needy cry out.

October 24, 2021 (Pastor David Billingslea) - Along with the Gospel, Paul shared his very life with the church at Thessalonica, and we are called to do the same. This sermon explores how the call to share our very lives impacts evangelism.
