We're almost to the end of the year, and the Holiday Season is in full swing. As King's Way is preparing to celebrate the birth of the savior of the world, we wanted to take a minute to slow down, explain how this winter season is going to work for our Sunday services, and relish in a wonderful time of the year: Advent. As the joy of Easter finds its balance in the sobriety and sorrow of Good Friday, the Christmas season has been traditionally balanced out with Advent for Christians across the world for thousands of years. In this episode, Trevor and Ryan briefly explain what Advent is, why it is a great season, and why they're excited to share it with you all! We hope you'll join us for these next 3 weeks before our Christmas Eve Eve service, but even if you can't, we hope you'll find a way to celebrate all that God has to offer through Advent in some other way!
When it comes to celebrating Thanksgiving, you can't usually choose your family, who is hosting, or what your crazy uncle talks about at the table, but in a perfect world, what would make up your perfect Thanksgiving meal? In this episode, Trevor and Ryan match up traditional casseroles, pies, and meats against each other to construct their ultimate Thanksgiving feast. Join the conversation by telling us what you thought we got right, what we got wrong, and what was left out in the comments on the YouTube video for this episode!

King's Way is in the middle of our Blessed to Bless Generosity Campaign, where we are doing our best to follow God's call to bless others with what we have been given. We want to give out of love and compassion, and what better way is there to foster that love than to hear from the people we want to bless as a church!
In this episode, Trevor and Ryan interview Donna Lewis from the Tri-County Pregnancy Resource Center in Aurora, MO. The biblical call for believers to be pro-life is more than simply being pro-birth, and the TCPRC is displaying that conviction with their time, effort, and love in real ways. The TCPRC exists to support and advocate for women going through unplanned pregnancies, having their first baby, or having a baby without the resources they need, as well as educating local schools and the public on reproductive health issues, all for free. From counseling to parenting classes, pregnancy tests to diapers, this organization helps guide men, women, and children toward being healthy families.

We want to give out of love and compassion, and what better way is there to foster that love than to hear from the people we want to bless as a church! In this episode, Trevor and Ryan interview Brandy Jameson about a local organization our church is partnering with: Holiday Central. This organization finds out the needs of families who are struggling through the fall and the holiday season and brings those needs to local churches and businesses. From there, the organizations rally people to provide warm winter clothes, toys, and food to be able to give to these families, and Holiday Central connects those gifts with the parents to help them be confident in providing for their own family. We hope you are encouraged by the stories of help families receive through this organization and consider joining our church's effort to partner with Holiday Central and bless Mt. Vernon with what God has blessed us with.

In the '70s, '80s, and '90s, the prevalent culture in American churches convinced Christians across the country to try and boycott anything with the appearance of evil. This caused many churches to take strong stances on new movies and music, host CD-breaking parties, and to top them all, boycott the Harry Potter series. Their response was swift and harsh, but did we miss something good when we swung the axe? In this episode, Ryan, Trevor, and Trevor's sister Traci discuss the good, the bad, and the godly within the bestselling book series of all time. Join the conversation by commenting your experience with the books or movies and what stood out to you from our conversation.
As we approach the holiday season once again, it's a good time to take another look at the western holiday trifecta: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. In this episode, Trevor and Ryan talk through their own holiday traditions around the three and cover the history of Halloween deeper than they ever knew before this episode. As people who are trying to look more like Jesus everyday, what do we do with the topic of violence? There is a time and place for tough conversations, and we believe the King's Way Podcast is the place to have some of those talks.
The book of 1 Samuel has been an incredible blessing to us as we've preached through it, but with weeks of sermons on the first 6 chapters under our belt, we thought it would be good to look back over where we've been in this story and fill in some of the details we couldn't fit on a Sunday morning. In this episode, Trevor and Ryan recap and expand on the journey our church has been on so far, going into deeper detail about God's amazing work through the nation that He sent His only son through to save the whole world. Join the conversation by telling us what was new to you, what you think we missed, and other parts that stuck out to you in the comments or at [email protected]!
If you have been a Christian for any amount of time, you've spent some amount of time with the Bible, whether from personal reading, hearing people preach it, or in our church, listening to Mark Duncan recite lengthy Bible passages from memory. Think about how much you've heard, and now ask yourself the question: how much of that was the New Testament, and how much was from the Old Testament? For many Christians today, the Old Testament can be easily forgotten or left behind, and we are trying to do something about that. Join Trevor and Ryan as they interview Jon Kehrer, an Ozark Christian College professor of Old Testament and biblical languages, in search of the meaning, depth, and beauty of the Old Testament for New Testament Christians today.
