Description: Looking at how Jesus longs to encounter each of us, and the various ways in which he has revealed that desire, by dying for us (Romans 5:10), and coming to live in us, and amongst us (1 Cor 3:16, 2 Cor 6:16). Recounted ways in which I had personally encountered Him, encouraging us to keep remembering how we have encountered Him.God does not have favourites (Acts 10:35, Rom 2:11) but He does have intimates. He longs for intimacy and encounters with everyone of us. Revealed in the word how God often asked his people to remember the things He had done (stones of rememberance in Joshua 4), and that God is not holding out on us,but as we remember what Hes done, and respond to his longing to meet with us we set ourselves up for more/ deeper encounters.
Spoke about different ways in which He encounters us, through believers (1 John 4 13-15), in His word (John 1:1), receiving salvation (1 John 4:17), in our hearts (Heb 10:22, Ezk36:26), in response to faith and expectation (Mat 9:29, Heb 11:6).
Highlighted that Jesus was focused on the healing and restoration of our hearts so that we can encounter him in a greater way here (Isaiah 61:1-2, Psalm 34:16) and that receiving this new life and restoration in our hearts we can begin to live with purpose from our hearts (Eph 2:1-5), pursuing His heart, His presence, and fellowship with Him.
