This is our first episode of the Kingswear Coffee Pod - a podcast based in Kingswear where we sit down over coffee (or beverage of choice) and chat about all things this side of the Dart. Today we talk to Stephen Pearson about all the events planned around the upcoming Coronation celebrations for King Charles III on 6 May.

This week Jo takes the driving seat and talks about the Royal Dart Hotel, its history and current situation. She then interviews Roger to find out a little more about him, finding out a few nuggets of information that may surprise you.

Today we meet the delightful Mark Bradley, chef manager at the Royal Dart Yacht Club - almost next door to both the coffee shop and the post office. We previously interviewed Colin Bower, the Commodore of the club, so if you want a different perspective of the club, go back and listen to that episode.

Mark tells us about the events that are planned for Dartmouth Regatta coming up on 23-26 August. We're all hoping to see many happy visitors to the river and show off it's best side. The RDYC is open to non-members during the regatta period, so check their website to find out what's on.

In this episode we find out a little about Kingswear Castle, for a short while a key part of the defence of Britain, now a holiday let with incredible views.

In the second half we find out a little more about Jo Byrne, our cohost from the USA - with Italian heritage and a love of K-dramas, there's more to Jo than a friendly face behind the Post Office counter or a wannabe high-vis hero conducting the traffic onto the slipway!

In this episode Jo and Roger talk about things to do in and around Kingswear. Working here by the ferry, we both get asked about what there is to do here on a regular basis, so we thought we would make a podcast about it. We talk about the cafes and pubs, the transport links and the places to visit nearby. There are bound to be things we have forgotten - which can all go into a future podcast.

For this episode, Jo and I sit down over a cuppa and chat to Colin Bower about his new role as Commodore of the RDYC and his life in general. There was a lot to talk about and it was a fascinating conversation. We cover his background, how he came to join the yacht club in Kingswear and what his plans are for the club during his tenure.
