Pastor Chris Harrison takes us through Psalm 110, and shows us how this Psalm should give us fresh urgency as believers, and how it points to Jesus as the Messiah in the New Testament.

Psalm 57 is a song of lament from David as he fled from Saul. He hid in a cave but his refuge was in God. It is also filed with words of hope. On this All Saints we celebrate both the hurt of loss and joy of Faith, just as Davis did.

Though we to talk about the highest moment of our faith as being a “mountain top” experience, everything that enables us to ascend to the heights is found in the depth of the valleys.  We cannot live without the valley moments in life.  The 23rd Psalm reminds of God’s unshakable, immovable presence with us in the valley moments of life.

The Psalms are the songs of the soul that expressed the full range of life experiences of the Jewish faith. The 2nd century theologian Athanasius said of the book of Psalms, “It is my view that in the words of this book the whole human life, its basic spiritual conduct as well its occasional movements and thoughts, is comprehended and contained.” Todays’ sermon is an introduction into our series “Life in the Psalms” and an introduction to the Book of Psalms.

God leads Joshua and the Israelites across the Jordan in this pivotal moment in their history. We can learn about how God leads His people as we look to this piece of the story. How is God leading us at KUMC? This is a question we consider and others. Alignment with God is critical in knowing the promise and following. God leads the journey and God chooses to work in and through His people.
