Sony Pictures released new promotional posters for Jumanji this week, including one with an airbrushed Karen Gillan looking unrecognisable. RMIT academic Lisa French and Monash University lecturer Belinda Smaill join us to discuss the Jumanji reboot set to hit cinemas later this year, and the culture of sexual objectification in film.

Also, Ezra Miller and Billy Crudup's relationship shapes to be a key theme in The Flash's solo movie if Justice League gives us any indication. We take a look at a film the two previously worked in together which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2015.

It's a monster episode of KinoCast this week as we look at Australian cinema; new and old. Joined this week by two guests, first Dr. Mark Freeman takes us on a brief tour of Australian film history, from the very first feature film, the more prolific filmmakers of the 70s and 80s and how more recent films and characters synonymous with Australian culture have translated overseas.

Then, co-founder of MonsterFest Grant Hardie joins us ahead of its 7th edition later this month to discuss emerging local talent in the horror genre and how the likes of 'Saw' and 'The Babadook' have become big hits on the international scene.

It's double the fun this week as we give you not one, but two topics in this edition of #PatronsChoice. First up, we talk to script editor Marilyn Tofler about the different stages of developing a screenplay for various formats including web series', tv and film. She also talks about her time as a script assessor at NBC where she worked on a number of classic sitcoms including 'Seinfeld' and 'Frasier'.

Then proprietor of  Classic Cinemas and Lido Cinemas Eddie Tamir joins us to discuss the place of the boutique cinema in modern film and what they have to offer. The Classic and the Lido are also playing host to the Jewish International Film Festival, of which Tamir is a Program Director so we run the rule over this year's program.

Also, Director of the Radical Reels Tour Jemima Robinson joins us to talk about this year's Australian Program, featuring select short films from Banff Mountain Film Festival. Radical Reels kicks off in Perth on October 17 and finishes in Launceston on December 1.

#PatronsChoice returns this week and with it comes a special guest. Art Director Jeff Thorp joins us to discuss what an Art Director's role in film production is, including his time working on The Quiet American and Where the Wild Things Are. Also, The Nice Guys is set for a TV reboot. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe are unlikely to reprise their roles as the hapless PIs Holland March and Jackson Healy though. Tune in to find out why.

In a special feature episode, we venture to the Melbourne Fringe Festival to see the Ladies of the Celluloid Carnival, a series of screenings presented by Melbourne Women in Film Festival (MWFF). Program Curator Kirsten Stevens discusses MWFF's origins, the importance of representation in film, and gives us a brief history of the role women have played in Australian cinema.
