Welcome back Fatterati!
This week’s four fat questions
Our three favourite things for this week
Kirsty has (like the rest of the world) been obsessed with the Crown and gone down the youtube rabbit hole.
Here’s the episode of Ladies we need to talk “The Secret Lives of Vaginas”.
And This American Life and the “Americans in Paris”.
Nikki reminded us to capitalise our hashtags or should I say #CapitaliseYourHashtags. Here’s a great article on why
https://www.boia.org/blog/make-your-hashtags-accessible
She also shared this article from Lindy West from 2013 that might just make you feel a little differently about Love Actually
We also discussed Nikki’s mourning of the end of the High Low.
See you next week Fatterati, but if you want to chat in the meantime head on over to the Two Fat Expats Facebook Group, it’s the best expat party in town.
The post What would my non expat kids be like? University applications for the expat teen and can a country ever love you back? first appeared on .
Covid strikes in Adelaide (we recorded the day before lockdown hit) and Hamburg has had 3000 new cases in the last week but never fear we’re still here to talk all things expat.
Our Four Fat questions:
What gets you excited about a new move?
What’s your clean out strategy before a move?
Are you the mandarin or the garlic? It all makes sense when you listen, I promise! But basically it’s all about when you fit in but just don’t feel the same as everyone else.
Are you a bad mother for feeling like your children are holding you hostage? Why does this questions always cause such an adverse reaction. We discuss.
Our three favourite things:
The Crown Season Four (everyone’s talking about it aren’t they)
The final episode of The Circus (ep 21 season 5) – in particular Debbie Dingells chat about Joe Biden.
The Crown’s official podcast
Nick Bryant talking to Richard Fidler on Conversations
The absolutely scrummy delicious Americano’s from Chappel Hill
Nikki’s happy that all her American TV is back and running
The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant (not Jackman)
Enjoy! And we’ll see you next week
The post Are you a bad parent for making your child move countries? And, what gets you excited about a new move? first appeared on .
We kick off with an update from Susan and Eva who are in China. They fill us in on the current Corona situation and what their life in China looks like right now.
We’re also introducing the Fat Four Expats Questions. Each week Nikki and I have four fat questions to ask each other:
What’s your expat superpower?
Would you ever go on a cruise? Or as Nikki likes to call them “floating ball pits”.
How do you explain gaps in your resume in your expat life?
Are British women really having a mental health crises in Dubai?
Here’s a few of our favourites this week to watch/read or listen to:
Stateless – ABC iview or Netflix (later in the year for Netflix but abcview now
Ride like a Girl
Ice Coffee
Catch and Kill

This is our first ever podcast recorded together and it should possibly come with an apology. We had a great chat, and it’s possible there was a bit of rambling BECAUSE WE WERE TOGETHER!
In this episode we cover owning a house in your home country. Transitioning your children from expat to repat without you. Kirsty’s daughter Lizzie gave us a piece of gold on what moving is all about. What we loved in 2019 and what we’re looking forward to in 2020. And Vasilopita!
Years and Years
The Handmaids Tale Season Three
Fleabag Season Two
Catastrophe Season Three
Author – Mitch Albom
Once_Upon_a_Time_in_Hollywood
Vasilopita
Looking forward to Killing Eve Season Three, Fleabag Season Three, Sex Education Season Two. Nikki can’t wait to see how the paytv wars pan out, Kirsty’s dreading it. Kirsty and Nikki are both looking forward to bedding down with some stability in 2020 – they’re both dreaming. 🙂

It’s a BRAND new season and we’re baaaaaackkkkk!
Kirsty is looking for 5 new friends for Christmas, after being in Doha for 9 years, she is definitely a ‘stayer’ and a long termer but still in need of new ways to make friends.
We break down all the different ways she might be able to do that and asked the Facebook group about the strangest place they’ve ever met a new friend and then discuss them all in the podcast.

This week we look at the election results through the eyes of a Muslim family in the US, a Muslim American in the Middle East and a American family also living in the Middle East.

Hello and welcome to another episode of Two Fat Expats where we believe you should live a fat expat life, live it to the max and make the most out of every moment.
This week we’re talking to two amazing expats who are doing extraordinary things in their expat life. Dr Erik left his medical practice in Beverly Hills working with famous actors and actresses to start a new life overseas. Firstly with Doctors without Borders and then with The Clinton Foundation. Dr Erik now lives in Thailand working for a medical clinic. He has done it all and seen it all and you’ll love his interview.
A big thank you to the lovely Jane, an Australian expat living in Hong Kong. With three young children at home, Jane still found time to dedicate to a group of refugee women and teaches them how to sew.

Hello and welcome to another episode of Two Fat Expats where we believe you should live your expat life to the max, live it large and live it fat.
This week we’re talking about the glamorous life of an expat, or lack there of.
Many people looking from the outside in would think all expats live a glamorous lifestyle of brunching and jet setting off to exotic locations. While there can be elements of truth to that, expat life for the most part is not always glamorous, we still live ordinary lives, just in extraordinary locations.
A big thank you to the lovely and hilarious Annabelle who shared her story about expat life in Johannesburg.
We had a great response from readers of the 4 Kids, 20 Suitcases and a Beagle page and also from the Two Fat Expats page.
