China has added gold to its reserves 22 months in a row, while Beijing keeps Bitcoin trading banned. Cory Klippsten, founder and CEO of Swan Bitcoin, says there's dark logic behind it: gold is hard money a state can still control.
Klippsten explains what China can and can't control about gold, why he went looking for a new gold standard and found it falls well short, and the four horsemen he says are pushing bond yields to their highest since 2002: war, growth, debt and Japan.
He also says only two Bitcoin treasury companies, Strategy and Strive, are truly running the strategy, and why he now suggests 90% of Bitcoin exposure sit in real on-chain coins. He explains why he calls the AI payments pitch for Bitcoin "Bcash logic," and names the one risk he takes seriously. And he puts a Bitcoin standard for the West somewhere between 2070 and 2090.

Jim Rickards says Washington benefits from inflation. For people trying to protect their savings, that creates a very different problem.
In this Kitco News interview, Jeremy Szafron asks Rickards who could drive gold’s next move, why he thinks China needs dollars even as it reduces its Treasury holdings, and what happens when the government’s debt problem collides with the saver’s need for stable purchasing power.
Rickards explains why he believes central-bank buying supports gold, what could happen if large institutional investors increase their allocations, and why he sees an opportunity in silver.
He also makes a specific Fed call: no additional hike in October, followed by a probable increase in December.
The conversation moves from Hormuz and diesel costs to the Japanese yen carry trade, physical gold ownership, the midterm elections and increasingly sophisticated financial scams. Rickards closes with the money lesson he emphasizes to his own children and grandchildren.
Jim Rickards is the author of Currency Wars and MoneyGPT and editor of Strategic Intelligence.

Lyn Alden says Washington is on track to run roughly $10 trillion in deficits over the next five years, and she sees no appetite among voters, Congress or the president to cut spending. She's holding her gold, but after the run toward $5,000 she says it's "less of a screaming buy," and she wants to see a stronger base before she'd pound the table again.
In this interview, Lyn explains why she thinks the Fed may not have the tools to fix fiscal-driven inflation, why rate hikes can grow the deficit faster than they slow lending, why she believes "the fiscal side will win," what could force the Fed to step into the Treasury market, why she thinks "zero is the wrong number" when it comes to holding some assets yourself, and whether stablecoins really strengthen the dollar.

As Trump and Xi meet at the White House, rare earths are one of the biggest issues on the table. China's one-year pause on its toughest rare earth export controls runs out in November, and America, the world's second-biggest rare earth miner, still depends on China for the magnets inside electric cars, wind turbines and defense equipment.
China makes 94% of the world's sintered rare earth magnets, according to the International Energy Agency. In April 2025, it put 7 rare earths behind export licenses. Shipments fell sharply, and some automakers cut production or temporarily shut down.
In this episode of This Week In Focus, Jeremy Szafron explains why mining alone doesn't solve the problem, how China built its grip on refining and magnet making, what the Pentagon's price floor at MP Materials' Mountain Pass mine is designed to do, and why China's central bank has kept buying gold for 22 straight months.

Mark Thornton called the housing bubble in 2004. For four years, he was told he was wrong. He now says every paper-dollar asset you own is facing a very difficult future, and the AI buildout is the clearest warning sign he has seen since.
In this interview with Jeremy Szafron, the Mises Institute senior fellow and author of The Skyscraper Curse explains why AI data centers are this cycle's record-breaking tower, why the bonds financing them run decades longer than the hardware, who gets stuck with the cost when a tenant stops paying, and why central banks no longer trusting each other is the best sign he has seen for gold.
Thornton also reacts to the Federal Reserve's report on Silicon Valley Bank published this week, Chairman Kevin Warsh's first rate hike in three years, and the drone attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline that cut Aramco supply to European buyers.

Bank of Dallas, argues the opposite. She says US small business bankruptcies are up 64% year over year through August, that more than 200 companies have closed every month for five months running, and that 57% of Americans who took cash out refinancing in Q2 accepted a higher mortgage rate to do it.
On the data behind the decision, she says the seasonal adjustments at the Bureau of Labor Statistics are "clearly broken" and the official numbers are "at best misleading."
On where that leaves investors, she says that whenever there is stress in credit markets, the only place you can hide with any certainty is precious metals.

The 10-year Treasury yield touched 5% as markets priced a greater than 90% chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike. David Rosenberg says the market may be making a much bigger mistake by assuming the Fed will keep going.
Rosenberg, founder and president of Rosenberg Research, joins Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron to explain why he questions the latest payroll and core CPI readings, why slowing wage growth complicates the inflation narrative and why an oil shock is not necessarily durable inflation.
He also explains why he is buying 10-year Treasuries at 5%, what could trigger a major short-covering rally in bonds and why he believes the U.S. dollar is entering a long-term bear market. The conversation covers gold’s resilience, hard assets and the investment thesis behind the newly launched ROSY ETF with Corton Capital.

Gold is sitting on a technical fault line ahead of the Federal Reserve’s September decision.
Gary Wagner, editor of TheGoldForecast.com and Kitco News technical analyst, puts support for December gold futures near $4,350, with major support just below $4,000. He also identifies resistance for silver near $71.50 and explains why corrections that once took years may now unfold in months.
Wagner joins Kitco News anchor Jeremy Szafron after August inflation rose 0.4%, market-implied odds of a September rate hike surged to nearly 89%, and gold rebounded after briefly falling below $4,300 in overnight trading.
They examine the changing relationship between gold, oil and the US dollar; the record 4,189 tonnes held by global gold ETFs; silver’s sharper volatility; and what the charts say to investors who bought near January’s record prices.
Wagner also explains how he dollar-cost averages physical metals, why he believes precious metals should represent 10% to 15% of a portfolio, and why he may never sell his own holdings.

The Federal Reserve decides Wednesday. On Friday the market put a rate hike at roughly 88%, and a cut at zero. It would be the first increase since July 2023.
Over nine days, three guests sat down with Jeremy Szafron and made the case that higher rates are a problem the debt can't carry. Ran Neuner on September 3, Brien Lundin on Tuesday September 8, and Ron Paul on September 9.
Neuner argued the inflation is a supply shock from the war and that rates are the wrong tool for it, while saying he wasn't ruling a hike out. Lundin argued a sustained campaign of rate hikes cannot be afforded, with debt service already running above national defense. Ron Paul argued the debt and malinvestment have to be liquidated eventually, and that there is no painless way to get there.
Friday's CPI came in at 0.4% for the month and 3.4% on the year, with core at 0.3%, hotter than the 0.2% economists expected. That's the Labor Department.

Former Congressman Ron Paul joins Jeremy Szafron on Kitco News to discuss the Treasury's expanded bond buybacks, who should actually own the gold in Fort Knox, and why he says the affordability debate is really a debate about the value of the dollar.
Dr. Paul explains why he wonders whether the current buyback program could become another round of quantitative easing, why he considers government equity stakes in private companies a form of corporatism, and what his grandmother told him about war and money when he was a boy during the Second World War.
He also revisits the 42 years when Americans were not permitted to own gold, why he says a restored gold standard would fail without deeper reform, what would make him sell his own gold, and the night in 1971 he watched Nixon close the gold window.
