Updates and information on new Filings with the City of Minneapolis and the NAACP Discrimatory Lawsuit.
Little Moments Count is a statewide movement to help parents and the community understand the importance of talking, playing, reading and singing early and often with children. We are a collaborative of organizations working to help increase parent and community interaction with babies and children.
These types of positive interactions and experiences in early childhood greatly impact health and well-being outcomes later in life.
Minneapolis Public School updates on 2023-2024 Graduating Students after COVID decrease.
Dr. Mattingly, updates on ADHD in children and adults. Also, follow-up on medication shortages. Mattingly is a physician and principal investigator in clinical trials for Midwest Research Group. He is also a founding partner of St. Charles Psychiatric Associates where he treats children, adolescents and adults.
The Minneapolis NAACP is highly disappointed with the disrespect and refusal to host a meeting with
the Brooklyn Center School District 286. The Minneapolis NAACP became involved with an investigation
of hostile work environment, disparities with discipline/termination, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse,
retaliation, and discrimination within the school and primarily with the Human Resource Department.
We as an organization take any claims of any kind seriously and provide our due diligence in
investigating. Upon doing so, we reached out to the Superintendent of the Brooklyn Center School
District 286, to meet and we were told NO! This is unacceptable as a taxpayer, and as a civic leader in
the black community. Our question is, what are they hiding, that they will not meet with us, nor provide
us with information about their policies/practices? They cannot and will not just tell us, NO. They’re
using their “White Supremist” behavior. This is the 21 st century, and regardless of what you think about
someone, based on their race, disability, gender, age, religion, (any protected class) you will be
challenged. We demand to be treated with respect! The Minneapolis NAACP is a branch of the National
Organization that is the oldest and most effective civil rights movement in the country and will be valued
and respected as such. We are demanding a meeting with the Brooklyn Center School Board
immediately, for this blatant level of dismissive behavior, and dereliction of duties assigned to the
superintendent.
Summer Scholars: Explore. Create. Connect.
MPS families are invited to explore more this summer through an experience that challenges
their student to dive into a world of possibilities both in and out of the classroom. It’s a place
where learners create their own paths, dream up new ideas and find meaning in everything they
create. All while discovering endless ways to connect with friends and their interests.
Summer Scholars is free and open to students in grades preK-8. Classes start June 26 and end
Aug. 3. Families should register by May 5 to secure transportation on the first day of class.
