On today’s Midday Report with host Terry Haines: Record-breaking rain this weekend in Sitka triggered their landslide warning system. Alaska is home to a large Hawaiian community, many of whom have links to Maui. And Alaska could see more renewable energy use in the future.

On today’s Midday Report with host Terry Haines: Authorities have released the names of the two victims who are presumed to have died after their airplane crashed Wednesday in  Denali National Park.  A man from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta was sentenced to over 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor. And the Anchorage School District has installed security vestibules in some of their elementary schools.

On today’s Midday Report with host Terry Haines: Warm and dry conditions increased wildfire activity around the Interior yesterday. Satellite data provided by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute is helping state and federal agencies fight wildfires. And the Senate has passed its version of the defense bill, with money for Alaska projects.
