    In today’s Midday Report with host Terry Haines: A Superior Court judge

    in Bethel has dismissed a lawsuit accusing state officials of
    mismanaging Yukon River and Kuskokwim River salmon fisheries. Anchorage’s
    homelessness experts expect the number of people sleeping outdoors to
    swell from about 300 now to as many as 800 as the city’s three winter
    shelters close. And the Anchorage Assembly will maintain its progressive supermajority.

    this week on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula has prompted some Alaska
    flight cancellations. Denali National Park will be radio-collaring

    introduced a new bill to reimpose a state income tax, part of a broader
    proposal to address persistent state deficits. A labor department
    program to help immigrants gain employment in Alaska has been restarted,
    as hundreds of Ukrainian refugees are resettling here. And the City of
    Nome is working with retailers to limit alcohol sales.

    deaths in less than 24 hours last week were likely due to counterfeit
    drugs containing fentanyl. In the small Prince of Wales Island town of
    Whale Pass a nearly 300-acre timber sale proceeds despite local
    opposition. And a 22 year old Russian Mission man faces over 100 years
    in prison after being convicted of murder, robbery, and assault charges.
