Kristin Andre is a career changing corporate executive turned entrepreneur. She’s a writer, speaker, performance coach and a “tell it like it is” business strategist. Her wonderfully titled book, “Don’t Make Me Pull This Car Over: A Roadmap for the Working Mom” is sure to help you tap into your own strengths. And Kristin knows something about strength – as she holds a second degree black belt in taekwondo. Tune in and hear how Kristin can empower you.
Taekwondo
Kristin’s daughter started taking lessons and there was an offer that for a whole month, the moms could take lessons for free. You know, to get them out of the stands and involved. But she didn’t take these lessons alone—through this training she found her tribe with everyone at least obtaining their first degree black belt.
Course Correct
If you’re a kicker like Kristin, and that’s your main strategy, you still have to be able to course correct. When she went up against an opponent that was over 6 feet tall, kicking wasn’t going to get her very far. Being able to keep the same goal in mind, but change up your approach, is key not only in Taekwondo but business as well.
Taking Down Excuses
The first thing that tends to come out when you resist a course correction are the excuses. Kristen lets her clients brain dump out all their excuses, then make them go back and come up with all the reasons a new approach could work. Because if you want your goal bad enough, you will fix what you’re doing to get there. Having a cheerleader in your life – someone who can dust you off when you’ve been kicked and really calls you out on your excuses can be instrumental in your excess, because it shows they believe in you and your potential.
Some clients have the greatest excuses, too. Some will even say to their coaches, “You must be tired of hearing my excuses.” But the response to that is, well, aren’t you tired of them? You’re the one who has to live with them 24/7.
Kristin’s #1 Hashtag of 2017
“You are your only limit.” Keep that in mind. We are what gets in our own way. So once you dig down into yourself (don’t be afraid to reach out for help with this) there’s nothing stopping you from getting to where you want to go.
