This is a time in my life I'm very familiar with feeling helpless and hopeless. I became a functioning alcoholic. I drank to cope with these feelings that sometimes led to disconnected thoughts or a sense of disorientation. Yet the reality is that I didn't want to feel those feelings, so I drank, day after day. In the end, I drank myself to death.
