Teachers in South Korea came forth among the OECD member countries in the level of respect they receive， an international study showed. Korea came behind China， Greece and Turkey in the level of public respect， and came before New Zealand， Singapore and the United States among the 21 countries. Koreans thought highly of teachers in most regards， only 1 in 10 respondents believed that students would actually show their teachers respect in school， the lowest among the 21 nations.

한 국제 보고서에 따르면， 한국 교사들의 위상이 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 회원국 중 4위를 차지한 것으로 나타났다. 한국은 교사 위상 면에서， 21개 국가들 중 중국， 그리스， 터키에 이어 4위에 올랐으며 뉴질랜드， 싱가포르， 미국이 뒤를 이었다. 한국인들은 대체로 교사에 대해 높게 평가하는 반면 10명 중 1명만이 학생들이 실제로 교사를 존경한다고 답해 21개국 중 가장 낮았다.
