According to popular belief, Epiphany Eve, the evening of 18 January, the famous "Epiphany evening", is a time when evil spirits are on the loose.
They strive to enter the house in any guise. To protect the home from the penetration of evil forces, place chalk (мел) on all doors and window frames signs of the cross, which is considered protection against everything demonic. The old belief was that if you don't put a cross on the door on Epiphany Eve, there will be trouble. 😈

The night of the eighteenth to the nineteenth of January is considered magical and unique.
На́ши пре́дки ве́рили, что и́менно в э́тот день мо́жно узна́ть свою́ судьбу́. 🔮😳
