What does it mean for “sport to be the school of the cross”? Siobhan Heekin-Canedy, 2014 Olympian of Team Ukraine shares her insight into this phenomenon. Siobhan Heekin-Canedy is a freelance writer on topics including international affairs, religion, sports, and feminism and a Contributing Editor with Providence. She holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College. From 2008-2014, Siobhan represented Ukraine as an elite-level ice dancer, ultimately competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
