An episode packed with treats (no tricks) to celebrate Halloween. We have a couple of spooky teasers for you as Envy Of None release a new single which sets the tone for things to come from them and you’ll hear the most recent release from Jonathan Hultén, who is currently on tour in the UK in support of The Cult while he builds momentum to his forthcoming album in January.
We hear from Bruce Soord about the thoughts behind the upcoming The Pineapple Thief EP before they head off on tour in the USA.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we also mark the 10th Anniversary of “Distant Satellites” by Anathema, which is being released on sparkle Vinyl plus the beautiful remaster of a collaboration between Mariusz Duda and Steven Wilson on the 10th anniversary of “The Old Peace” penned by late Alec Wildey which is getting it’s digital debut through Kscope.
In this bumper episode we hear from Colin Edwin of O.R.k about their latest run of releases and since we also spoke to Richard Barbieri we took the opportunity to talk to them both about their time in Porcupine Tree and what it was like during the making of Fear Of A Blank Planet, a timely chat ahead of the release of and a 116 page hardback book 5 disc edition packed with rarities.
Plus, Andy, Phil and Clark from the newest band to the label, Ihlo, talk to Billy Reeves about their excitement of having their debut album “Union” get the Kscope treatment with a beautiful CD and double LP out this week which is remastered by Acle Kahney of TesseracT. Ihlo are on tour this Autumn and getting along to see that will be a decision you will not regret!
As we reach the end of summer in the UK, TesseracT are coming to the end of the latest leg of their mega tour which was in support of their album War of Being (which incidentally is a year old this week) so we thought we would have an overdue catch up with bassist Amos Williams about life on tour away from loved ones, making up for lost time and future plans.
This week also sees the release of "Powder Dry" the long awaited new album from Tim Bowness so we thought his song "Summer Turned" would be well placed in this episode falling on the cusp of Autumn.
You will also hear from The Radicant, Storm Corrosion and our most recent additions to Kscope IHLO
Kscope are releasing the debut EP by The Radicant who you may know as Vincent Cavanagh, the former frontman of Anathema.
The Radicant is a solo project of sorts which includes collaborators from many disciplines, informed in part by Vincent’s composition work for recent multi-media installations by fine artists; so this is pop music presented as aural sculpture.
The EP is out now, so it was time for Billy Reeves to catch up with the man himself, in a Grade II listed north London church, recommissioned as London’s newest art gallery. Where else?!
Join us for episode 171 of the Kscope where our host Billy Reeves catches up with Tim Bowness ahead of his upcoming album “Powder Dry” which is out on 16th August.
We will hear about his influences, collaborations and future plans and why he decided that Kscope was the label for him.
There is also an opportunity to hear the first single from the highly anticipated EP from Ex Anathema front man Vincent Cavanagh’s new incarnation “The Radicant”
