An Oregon worker was one of the featured speakers at a national roundtable discussion about the impact of federal cutbacks, on national parks and federal lands, many of those special treasured places that families plan on heading for vacation in the coming summer months. Oregon U.

S. Senator Jeff Merkley, a leader on the Senate Interior Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, joined New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich and Maine Senator Angus King, along with several longtime public lands employees to talk about how these staffing cuts could severely harm public lands and their nearby communities.

They included a fired Forest Service probationary employee who worked in Oregon. Bailey Langley educated the public about Oregon's Umatilla, Malheur, and Willowa Whitman National Forests,
