On this past Monday, news broke of the passing of Paul Reubens, who had succumbed to cancer after a private six-year battle.
Reubens, of course, was more well-known, especially to a generation of '80s kids, as Pee-Wee Herman. The man was nothing short of a genius.
His Pee-Wee Herman stage show eventually led to the delightfully wacky Saturday morning TV program "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," which made Pee-Wee a household name among children of all ages.
Along the way, there was his feature film debut, directed by a young Tim Burton, about a boy who loves his bicycle very, very much. When it is stolen, he embarks upon an oddball odyssey of adversity, self-discovery and well... adventure.
Big Adventure.
This week, we honor the brilliant performer, the unhinged creative mind, the loner, the rebel, the legend: Pee-Wee Herman.
Rest In Peace, Paul Reubens.
