A retired South Jersey cop has been arrested after authorities say he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.

Prosecutors say 67-year-old Louis Baselice of Maple Shade is charged with sexual assault and child endangerment.

According to officials, Baselice, who worked for the Haddonfield Police Department, also bought the victim an electric scooter and cellphone, and gave her his credit card number to order food.

An investigation began after acquaintances of the victim reported the alleged abuse.

Baselice is in custody awaiting a detention hearing. Anyone with information concerning the case is urged to call the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

The Ben Franklin Bridge is celebrating its 100th birthday on Saturday. It won't be much of a party for drivers because the bridge will close to vehicle traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. But people who want to celebrate the bridge's history can walk across the roadway lanes between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., when the DRPA will have food trucks, vendors and activities. The Walt Whitman and Betsy Ross bridges will remain open, and PATCO trains will continue to run.
