A taxi driver was shot by a teenage boy police say tried to rob him in East Germantown on Wednesday.

It was after 12 p.m. when police say the man was picking up someone in his Honda CR-V at the intersection of Price and Boyer streets.

That's when a teenager — between 16 and 18-years-old — opened the passenger door and attempted to rob him at gunpoint.

The driver was then shot in the chest as he tried to get away. Police say nothing was taken.

He was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition.

The teen is described as a thin boy with a clean-shaven face and was seen wearing a red and black hoodie and black pants.

Anyone who spots him is asked to call police.

SEPTA is offering free rides home on the Broad Street Line after the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game, thanks to corporate sponsorships.

The free rides from NRG Station will begin Monday after the second round of the derby and until midnight. On Tuesday for the All-Star Game, the free rides begin after the sixth inning and end at midnight.

SEPTA is also adding six Sports Express trains to NRG Station Monday and Tuesday.
