A Philadelphia City Council hearing on a rideshare tax became a debate over school closings, after Council summoned School District of Philadelphia leaders to grill them about the closure plan. KYW Newsradio City Hall bureau chief Pat Loeb reports.

The Comcast Center Plaza in Center City was bathed in Flyers orange and black, and 76ers red and blue on Tuesday as hundreds of fans enjoyed a pep rally with a live DJ, free gifts and a lot of Philly energy. KYW Newsradio’s Shara Dae Howard reports.

Imagine booking a July Fourth hotel room in Philadelphia for the World Cup well in advance, only to have the hotel cancel your reservation months later. It happened to a couple from the Washington, D.C. area, as we hear from KYW Newsradio's Mike DeNardo.

Federal authorities are investigating the armed robbery of a Brinks armored truck in Northeast Philly.

This happened just after 9:30 this morning

Authorities say the truck was stopped along Torresdale Avenue near Wellington Street in the city’s Tacony neighborhood, when two men armed with rifles robbed the truck and took off.

Law enforcement sources say they got away with 1-point-8 million dollars in cash.

No one was hurt.

The FBI is handling the case and working with Philly police to identify suspects and recover the money.

Uber is taking its fight against Mayor Parker's proposed rideshare tax right to your phone. The company sent a push notification that said "Urgent: Stop the $1 tax. Keep rideshare affordable."

City Council will hear public testimony on the issue Tuesday afternoon.

The mayor has said the $1-per-trip tax on Uber and Lyft would save 340 jobs in the school district.
