Philadelphia police are looking to find a man they say robbed a mother and her son at gunpoint in South Philly last week.

It was after 10 p.m. last Wednesday when police say a man in his late 40s approached a 50-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son with a handgun, demanding their wallets and cellphones.

This happened along 3rd and Delancey streets in Society Hill.

The man eventually took off with just her wallet. Both victims were unharmed.

Police say he was seen on surveillance video in the area 45 minutes prior to the robbery.

Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel says investigators are making significant progress in their efforts to find the gunman who shot and killed an off-duty officer outside an after-hours lounge in Southwest Philly over the weekend.

The 29-year-old officer was laid to rest on Monday, just blocks away from where the shooting took place.

The warning period has begun for new "smart loading zones" along 30 blocks from Bainbridge to Spring Garden streets.

Over the next month, drivers will be reminded that they have to register with CurbPass and be charged 10 cents a minute to park in these areas. Otherwise -- or if they park longer than an hour -- they'll be hit with $51 tickets.

The zones use license-plate reading cameras for enforcement.

The program started last year along 22 blocks in Center City.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority says it's reduced double-parking and allowed traffic to flow more smoothly.
