There were two small fires in our area overnight, but no one was reportedly hurt.
In South Philadelphia, a building fire on a residential block of Snyder Avenue at 8th Street broke out around 2 a.m. The sign outside the building is for the Greater Philadelphia Community Alliance. GPCA's facility is closed on weekends, and firefighters got the fire under control in less than half an hour, so there was no immediately visible damage.
In Norristown, Montgomery County, fire officials say a garage caught fire early in the morning. They say the fire started in some debris in the garage on East Airy Street near High Street. Fire crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building, but several cars in the garage were damaged.
