The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says Penn is obstructing its efforts to investigate antisemitism on campus. It has filed an action in federal court to try to force Penn to comply with its subpoena for the identity of witnesses and victims of religious-based harassment.
The Trump administration says the university "failed to effectively address complaints of harassment ... and instead allowed harassment to escalate." Penn says it has worked "diligently" to combat antisemitism on campus.
The school told Reuters it has provided nearly 900 pages of documents to the EEOC and has offered to let employees know how they can contact the agency. However, Penn said it objects to sharing information about employees without their consent.
