A police shootout in Camden Tuesday night left a police officer and a suspect injured.

It happened just before 11 p.m. at Chesapeake and Congress roads in the Fairview neighborhood.

Police said the officer was shot in the arm. Another cop returned fire, striking the suspect.

Both are expected to physically recover. The suspect is also in custody.

Police did not say what led up to the shooting. The investigation has been turned over to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has declared victory over Republican opponent Naeem Khan.

Small and his wife have been facing charges on accusations they emotionally and physically abused their daughter. They have pleaded not guilty.

And, former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey is going another round in his attempted political comeback, more than two decades after he resigned from office after a sex scandal and coming out as gay. McGreevey will take on James Solomon in a Dec. 2 runoff election in the race for mayor of Jersey City.

Philadelphia City Controller Christy Brady easily won re-election Tuesday night with more than 85% of the vote. She defeated Republican Ari Patrinos.

Brady was a long-time controller's office employee when she won a special election for the top job two years ago.

Boos echo through the ballroom at the Marriott in Bridgewater when Jack Ciattarelli took the stage for his concession speech Tuesday, announcing that he called to congratulate Democrat Mikie Sherrill on her election win for governor of New Jersey. This was Ciatarrelli's third straight run for governor, who called Donald Trump unfit to be president in 2015, didn't campaign with Trump when he lost by just 3 points to Gov. Phil Murphy in 2021, but then, with Trump's success in two elections, Ciatarrelli changed his tune and got endorsed by Trump this time around.

The vote no campaign forced the judges into active campaigning, with Democrats mounting a vigorous counterattack. The fallout spread to two other retention elections. Superior Court Judge Alice Dubow was not targeted, but said it was a challenge to retain her seat. KYW City Hall bureau chief Pat Loeb reports.
