After a months-long battle with the federal government over depictions of slavery at the President’s House on Independence Mall, dozens gathered right across the street to discuss the erasure of Black history. KYW Newsradio's Vik Raghupathi was there.

Summer fun continues at Eakins Oval on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The city is bringing back the Oval Minifest for three Saturdays in August.

The family-friendly series kicks off on Aug. 8 with the sixth annual Hip Hop in the Park Festival.

The day will feature performances from hip-hop artists, local DJs, dancers and live street art.

The following week, the Oval will host the Now + Then Marketplace, where visitors can shop local vendors for art, jewelry and resale items. The event will end with a free outdoor screening of the movie “Project Hail Mary.”

On Aug. 22, the series concludes with a Family Fun Day hosted by Kith + Kin. The event will feature soccer-themed activities, lawn games, face painting and live music. The day will wrap up with a free screening of “The Incredibles.”

A Delaware County man has admitted to stalking and sending threatening letters to a local TV news personality.

Authorities in Delaware County say an officer shot and killed a man early this morning. It happened in Aldan Borough and KYW's Tim Jimenez was there.

Philadelphia's Veterans Affairs Medical Center is part of a new clinical trial testing whether GLP-1 drugs can be used to treat alcohol abuse disorder.

A study published in March found that people taking Wegovy and Ozempic had lower rates of alcohol abuse and other substance abuse disorders than patients taking other diabetes medications.

The VA Department says more than 400,000 veterans have been diagnosed with alcohol abuse disorder.

VA Secretary Doug Collins says the VA is "uniquely situated to launch" this study and says the research will directly benefit veterans.

About 600 veterans at 18 VA medical centers nationwide will participate in the trial over 24 weeks.

People packed a public meeting in Vineland, Cumberland County, to object to the proposed expansion of a data center. Officials moved the meeting from City Hall to the Landis Theater because there was such a large crowd.

The facility, which is still under construction, would cover about the size of 45 football fields and would be located about a mile from some nearby homes.

Several people complained about what they described as a humming sound already coming from the site. The center's owner, Data One, says the site is operating in compliance with local noise ordinance limits.

Other attendees brought up concerns about the project's water usage. The company said it had not yet calculated the amount of water needed for every operation.

A salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeños is growing. The CDC now says 345 people have gotten sick across 27 states. None of them are in our area.

Minnesota and Colorado each have at least 110 cases.

Federal investigators say the peppers came from Mexico and were distributed by Coast Citrus to restaurants in multiple states.

Chipotle and Qdoba have already stopped serving the jalapeños.

The FDA is still working to determine if any of the peppers were sold in grocery stores.

If you have any in your home, the CDC says you should throw them out and sanitize any surfaces they may have touched.
