In this episode, we are doing something different. Today, we are supporting our friends and fellow artists over at THE LAND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER US an ART SHOW FUNDRAISER, organized by the talented Thalia Gochez.  This was an event dedicated to bringing the community together through art to raise funds for our undocumented community. More than 30 local artists donated their work to support two organizations doing the work in these tough times: the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and the Immigrant Defenders Law Center. 

What does it really take to build a career in comedy?

In this episode, we pull back the curtain on the work, heart, and humor that go into making people laugh for a living. Stand-up comedians Daniela Inés Calvo and Jose “Hoozay” Velasquez get real with us about navigating the comedy scene, from local open mics to national stages, while using joy as a form of resistance in uncertain times.

Daniela Inés Calvo is a bilingual standup comedian raised in Miami & Argentina, now based in Los Angeles. Daniela is the producer of the regular stand-up show en español at The World Famous Comedy Store, where she co-headlines with Francisco Ramos and has surprise features.

Hoozay is a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian of Salvadoran heritage and digital content creator. He is part of TikTok’s Latinx digital content creators, serves as the host of Millennial Cooking Hacks on CurtidoTV, AND a one-hour comedy special on AppleTV and Prime Video.

Originario de Houston, Texas, Kane Rodríguez es un artista mexicoamericano que conquistó a su público a través de las redes sociales.
